Stumbled upon this tight little alley of a restaurant, looking for dinner with my little preschooler on our yay-it's-the-weekend Friday night dinner date.
The tempura was amazing! Light. Wasn't dripping with grease. Could taste the freshness of the vegetables. So crispy. So veggie-y. I'm gonna say it... It was the best tempura I've ever had. I'm probably not eating tempura again any time soon (eat healthy, my friends), but if I have to, I'm coming back here.
Totally exceeded the expectations of a mother who merely needed a quick meal time solution that is a happy intersection between a treat and getting those vegetables into the system. Perfect!!!
Servers were super attentive. Big smiles all around. Brought us an extra chair for our bags, despite scarce real estate in the restaurant.
What you see is a Magic Shrooms Burger and a Double Wolf in the background. With sides of thick cut fries and sweet potato fries... Salivate.
They taste much better than they look! Tell them medium-well and you'll get a fresh, juicy, REAL beef tasting patty in your burger. No fillers here. Like craft beers? There's a limited but nice selection.
The ambiance is pretty laidback. No crowds to contend with. Family friendly. Pleasant view of the lawn outside... Great for the kid to do laps. Parents, you know what I mean. ;)

Tucked beside the library at Esplanade, the Gab Cafe overlooks the bay so you can enjoy your food in natural light and a pretty view of the bay.
Interesting lunch menu with lots of healthy options. I had smoked duck with quinoa and soba. It came with a generous serving of some sort of citrus salad. Really appreciate the effort to plate it beautifully!

Excellent for large groups and families. Casual and no fuss. The gang enjoyed seafood paired with Japanese craft beers. Toddler had fun too. Get ready for a messy, finger-licking good time! Bibs provided.

The best soba experience in Akihabara! Elegant and cozy. Super attentive staff taught us something new about appreciating soba! Choice of tatami or chair seating. We went for tatami for kicks and it turnes out to be perfect for a great dining experience for our family with a 2yr old. Yay!
