One of the dining establishments that we had made a mental note on but had been sitting on the plan of giving the spot a try would be that of Itadakimatsu — these folks are located at Old Airport Road Food Centre occupying a stall space that is along the same row of stalls as where would find other notable establishments such as Minced Pork Bros. Itadakimatsu should be quite an easy stall to spot considering the use of Japanese-style paper lanterns for its decor hanging from the sides of the stall; it also sports a signboard with a clean design comprising of a logo and its name in a fairly unique typeface as well. As one might have noticed from the stall’s namesake, Itadakimatsu serves up Japanese fare; the stall does carry the tagline mentioning “Restaurant Standard Hawker Price” — its menu comprises of mainly Donburi items but also does feature items like Gindara Shio Grilled Cod Fish, Truffle Oil Angel Hair with Scallops & Ikura. Apart from such items, they also do offer some side dishes such as that of the Grilled Japan Oyster with Mentaiko and Ikura Chawanmushi as well — just to name a few.
The A5 Wagyu Hamburg Don (200 grams) is one of the items that is mentioned as a Chef Special — it does seem that the item is only added to the menu some time after Itadakimatsu has opened its doors; rather than being an item listed in the signage on the facade of the stall, the item is mentioned on a wooden board hung from the top of the stall in front of the counter. Itadakimatsu does not describe the elements that come with the various dishes that they have to offer; with that being said, it can be observed that the A5 Wagyu Hamburg Don (200 grams) does also feature a Demi-glace as well as Ikura — it also comes with a mix greens that consists of shredded cabbage, slices of cucumber and cherry tomato all seated atop a bed of short-grain rice. One thing to note is that all the elements in the bowl are made upon order; the A5 Wagyu Hamburg itself being hand-formed from scratch after we placed our order — the A5 Wagyu Hamburg also coming with melted cheese within the Hamburg patty itself. Done to a medium-rare consistency, the Hamburg patty had a good ratio of fatty parts to lean meat — the meat being tender inside and without any veiny or fatty parts that would have made it difficult to chew through; carried a firm bite with a bit of a smokiness and crustiness from the being grilled on the pan, while the melted cheese does add another dimension of savouriness. The Demi-glace sauce was chef’s kiss; it carries that sweet savoury note that gives both the patty and the rice sufficient flavour — a very rich, thick and indulgent sauce that we can’t get enough of. Topped above the A5 Wagyu Hamburg would be the Ikura which adds a popping sensation and an umami note to the entire bowl — the Ikura being sprayed with edible gold dust just for that extra touch of exquisite vibes for the A5 Wagyu Hamburg Don. Whilst pricey as an eat from a hawker centre, we did feel that the quality and execution of the A5 Wagyu Hamburg Don is leaps and bounds beyond what we have tasted from some Japanese restaurants out there — definitely something worth going for if looking for something to treat oneself to celebrate the small wins in life!
($6) its a long time never go there back to old airport. They did opened it for a couple of franchise stores. But then serving size was quite average. But the standard for taste remained the same in the past.
Established in September 2003, this chain of hawker stalls is known for sourcing their mutton from Australia or New Zealand, stewing the bones over hours to flavour the hot soup / broth.
.
Their rendition has a semi-cloudy semi-clear light soup / broth, enhanced with ginger, coriander, dang gui / angelica root, and other herbs. Carries mild meaty savoury sweet bitter herbal flavour.
.
The deboned mutton meat is tender with meaty savoury flavour, the bouncy mutton meat balls have meaty savoury salty flavour, and the stomach / tripe is springy crunchy with savoury sweet herbal bitter flavour. Served with white rice.

A satisfying bowl of lor mee featuring braised egg, ngoh hiang and crispy fried fish chunks. The gravy is flavourful with just the right thickness, smooth without being overly starchy. For added variety, the upgraded version with extra ingredients and more fish meat makes a worthwhile choice 》$5 (加料 有鱼)
Portion is generous and worth the money

Was passing by Old Airport Road Food Centre recently and found out about the existence of 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling that is located around the area where most of the Muslim stalls are situated within the food centre — 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling is a recently-opened establishment in the area. 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling does stand out quite a bit from the other stalls surrounding it within the vicinity — whilst most of the stalls there seem to feature yellow and green signboards, 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling is the only one that sports a red signboard; the signboard also features a cute illustration of a soup dumpling as well. Turns out, 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling is a Muslim-friendly dining establishment that serves up Chinese fare; the menu at 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling being mostly central around its soup dumpling offerings. 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling does serve other soup dumplings ala-carte on in sets that are bundled with noodles on the side; the soup dumplings coming in a variety of flavours for its patrons to choose from.
One way to give everything that 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling has to offer a try in one seating would be for one to go straight for the Combo of 5 Flavours + Noodle — the Combo of 5 Flavours refers to all five (5) flavours of the soup dumplings that 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling serves up; this being the Chicken, Herbal Chicken, Beef, Prawn and the Truffle Mushroom soup dumplings. All bowls of noodles that accompany the soup dumplings as a set are dry noodles that had been tossed with scallion oil; the noodles are actually pretty flavourful and on-point here — they carried a fragrant hint of scallion oil and were pretty savoury. The noodles are also executed in a manner that it carried sufficient bite as well; it also does come served with a dollop of Lao Gan Ma-esque chili on the top which can be mixed into the noodles — adds a savoury and smoky hint of spiciness that tickles the tastebuds which would be pretty manageable for those whom are tolerable to lighter hints of spiciness.
Amongst the five different flavours of soup dumplings offered, our top picks would be the Chicken and the Truffle Mushroom. The consistency of the soup dumplings may not necessarily gel well with purists; the soup dumplings coming with an aesthetic that is a little bit flat — the dumpling wrapper being a little thick in a way that seems to resemble that of Teochew-style Kueh which carries a firm and bouncy texture. With that being said, it does come filled with soup and minced meat filling within; the minced meat filling being a little bit on the thinner side. The Chicken variant of the soup dumplings can be described as the “original” at 汤包 BAO The Original Soup Dumpling — the soup does carry that slightly gingery note that one would typically expect in the usual soup dumplings served elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Truffle Mushroom does come with an evident whiff of truffle and an accompanying earthiness from the mushroom which would likely hit well with truffle lovers.
Young hawker with some hype, but overrated lah. It's nice but pretty much same level as most stalls. Got an almost fully cooked ajitama.

Yummy Milo shave ice dessert for just $3!
Milo powder layer atop, sweet condensed milk drizzle, and nata de coco cubes make it a delightful treat.
Not bad indeed!
This long-serving stall has been dishing out hearty Western fare since 1974, and is well known for their house secret garlic sauce which is sweet savoury spicy in flavour.
.
The lamp loin was perfectly grilled, tender chewy succulent in texture, with pleasant smoky meaty savoury salty fatty flavour.
.
The crunchy chilled coleslaw (cabbage, carrot) is light with vegetal sweet flavour, while the fluffy crisp English potato chips hold starchy salty flavour.
.
The old-school cream bun is pillowy soft with a thin layer of cream within, carrying bready milky sweet flavour, decent.

portion was big and i liked that they gave a side soup! i still think King of Fried Rice does the best hawker fried rice, but this chain has many stalls so it's v accessible~
I hadn't eaten this in a few years but I regret getting it for dinner. Wanton mee is never suitable for dinner, even if it's decent.
