404 Braised Pork Rice One of the more obvious new entrants to the local F&B scene especially for those whom are often around the City Hall area would be that of Error 404 Desserts Not Found — these folks had taken up a pretty prominent space in the basement of Capitol Singapore. Error 404 Desserts Not Found is a concept by the very same Chef Pang behind Pang’s Hakka Yong Tau Foo and Malalah! — other now-defunct concepts in which he had his name affiliated with would be that of Antoinette and Pique Nique. Error 404 Desserts Not Found is an establishment that seems to have its focus on local Chinese traditional desserts as well as tea offerings similar to the style of more artisanal bubble tea joints all across the island. To complement their dessert and tea offerings, Error 404 Desserts Not Found also do offer a variety of mains — the range does seem to be Taiwanese-inspired but with a little bit of their own twist.
The 404 Braised Pork Rice does seem like one of its signature dishes that it has to offer as its line-up of mains considering how it features the namesake of the establishment. The menu describes the dish to come with Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi Rice, Braised Pork, Nuyolk Chawanmushi Pudding and Bonito Flakes; it also does come accompanied with broccoli and pickled cabbage, braised tofu, soy skin, and seasonal miso soup on the side in their respective dishes. A dish that is pretty much loaded with protein especially considering the use of the Nuyolk Chawanmushi Pudding and inclusion of braised tofu and soy skin, the 404 Braised Pork Rice does come quite unique with the addition of the Nuyolk Chawanmushi Pudding in particular; it does provide a smooth texture that somewhat binds the pearly rice and the slightly meaty, yet melt-in-the-mouth consistency of the braised minced pork together, whilst it also does give a balance of flavour to the savoury and slightly spiced notes of the braised minced pork that hints of a light whiff of cinnamon and star anise. The inclusion of bonito flakes adds another dimension of umami that further elevates the dish as well.
