My kind of comfort food in singapore: Fish bee hoon at Maxwell Centre. Plump fried fish, slippery noodles and a good milky broth! CHINHOJIAK!
Here's the mini croissant with ice cream ($3-4), something similar to the old school $1 ice cream. Love the flaky and buttery croissant, which goes well with the generous scoop of ice cream (I had triple chocolate flavor). However, the ice cream melted really fast, leaving me with stained and sticky hands. 'Twas a great experience at the cafe fest!
Thick slices of pork, a light and tasty shio (salt) broth and springy noodles. Ramen santouka probably offers the best ramen in singapore!
Expect to queue on the weekends at this alluring establishment, and be prepared for a great meal. For something different, go for the Turkish Full Breakfast. If you like your runny eggs (of course you do), go for the poached organic eggs sitting atop braised ox cheeks, or the swoon-worthy Croque Monsieur. Finish off with a coffee, cider, or glass of white wine. Don't expect the usual cafe prices! Photo by Huixuan Tan
I call this the next level kaya butter toast: kaya and butter stuffed brioche French toast with coconut ice cream, sprinkled with toasted shredded coconuts. The combination of the ingredients compliments each other and this is so so good that I can have it all day everyday! The eggy brioche is pillowy and soft and when you spread some of the ice cream on it, you are immediately in food heaven! CHINHOJIAK!!
This is truly a gem of a neighborhood eatery where most people living around the area will turn to for a quick thai fix. Had to queue for 30minutes(which is normal), but it was worth the wait! Dishes here are priced at around $6-$10. I like the phad thai(my fav thai dish), green curry, chicken wrapped with pandan leaves and not forgetting, ICED THAI MILK TEA!! Chinhojiak! Do come here to satisfy your thai food cravings.
TBB sells a variety of artisanal pastries and bread, including sandwiches and even, homemade soup!! During my trip to TBB, I ordered a Squid ink burger ($9.50), consisting of lots of peppery rockets, smoked salmon and prosciutto sandwiched between two squid ink bun. I find the bun needs some tweaking as it is tasteless, and they were not generous with the offering of salmon and prosciutto. Overall, I find it a little overrated and overpriced but I do like the kouigh amann($4).
Wild honey's version of an egg benedict. Worth a try!
