Had the sliced fished, hotplate tofu and stir fried beef with kai lan. Beef was flavourful and could taste the wok hey. Fish was qq and really fresh. The tofu was well balanced. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Overall it was an enjoyable supper zi char!
Tasty, hearty porridge and dishes that is available till late for supper! Visited on a weekday night and my favourites were the juicy braised pork and the cereal sotong paired with the plain porridge.
Still my favourite laksa stall since childhood days, and yes it has been that long. From a Si Gina to a Lao Uncle already, this bowl has followed me through the years. Now they serve only one size at one price, $4 per bowl, which is affordable and delicious given today’s economy.
Laksa ($4)
You can select thick bee hoon, thin bee hoon, or yellow noodles, with the option to mix them. I went with thin bee hoon, which soaked up the broth beautifully. The bowl was generous, filled with tau pok that released bursts of broth when bitten, crunchy beansprouts, crabstick, fishcake, hard boiled egg, and cockles that added briny depth. The broth was dense and coconutty with hae bee hiam flavour, smooth and balanced rather than overwhelming.
Their homemade dried shrimp sambal is really good. Just a small dollop melts into the broth, adding savoury heat, smoky depth, and a punch of umami that transforms the entire bowl. Honestly, I always want to add more because it is that addictive, but the extra charge makes me hold back. Even a modest spoonful, though, is enough to make the laksa unforgettable.
Sprinkling laksa leaves adds fragrance, completing the bowl with a fresh herbal lift.
Overall, this laksa is nostalgic, hearty, and tastisfying. A simple $4 bowl that continues to deliver flavour and comfort after all these years.

tried their signature hainanese chicken rice and it was really delicious! the chicken was steamed really well and is tender~ also had their chap chye which was very flavourful with the fried pork bits! the fish maw soup was delicious as well and paired perfectly with the meal
Really enjoyed the chicken rice here, especially the chap chye. The rice was insanely fragrant, and the chicken had a nice bite to it. But the chap chye is the real must-order for me, you can really taste the aroma from the dried shrimp and pork lard, which gives it so much depth and flavour. This is exactly why I always order it whenever I come hehe
Would definitely recommend coming here with your family or friends for a comforting meal!
Hungry late at night and had curry rice with bitter gourd, squid, potatoes and lean meat. Homely flavours, nothing fancy but reliable. It’s the kind of meal that leaves me satisfied and content 》$14
I usually come here for supper and the prata is reliably good, crisp outside with soft layers inside. This time I decided to have prata in the morning instead. The onion prata still carried its sweetness and bite but the plain prata came out overly crispy and hard, more like a biscuit, missing that slightly chewy, doughy texture I prefer.
The curry and sambal‑style chilli gravy were still good, giving the familiar flavour and kick. Just that the plain prata this morning was disappointing compared to the consistent nights I have had here. Not sure if it was a different person cooking but the difference was noticeable.
Plain Prata 》$2.80 / 2 Pcs
Onion Prata 》$2.20
Late night comfort at Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge with free-flow sweet potato porridge. Loved the cold cockles in dark sauce and the creamy pork liver claypot (eat it hot!). Added meicai, hotplate bean curd and qinglong veg for a simple but satisfying supper.
This MXG is fragrant without being oily, spice brings warmth but doesn’t overwhelm and I like that there are no peppercorns in sight so it stays smooth and easy to enjoy without the numbing overload.
The fried specials are the highlight. Fish fillets stay crisp outside with tender flesh, luncheon meat turns golden and crunchy and potato slices snap with every bite. Fried separately, they add crunch and richness without greasiness, making the bowl satisfying all around 》$18.25

Really enjoyed the eggplant as well!!
I really enjoyed the Hainanese pork chop!! The food was homely and the portion was generous 😋 The chicken collagen broth was really yummy too, perfect for rainy days!
This Hainanese chicken rice restaurant absolutely blew me out of the water. The rice was fragrant, the chicken was tender and flavourful, the cucumber slices were fresh, and the house green chilli provides a nice but mild kick. The braised eggplant is one of the best eggplant dishes I've ever had in my life — there were crispy bits inside along with the eggplant and minced meat, which made it the star of the show. The Thai-style tofu was great as well, though I personally wished that it was a little more silky inside. I got barley water as my drink, and it was standard. On top of everything, the prices mean that I will definitely be coming here again.
