A really nice place that's suitable for a quick weekday dinner or even a weekend date! Loved the sake variety here and they pair very well with the food served!
Great environment for a casual catchup over a couple of drinks. They offer sake sampler (sweet and dry) which allows you to try a range of it! Perfect to go with your dishes and if nothing heavy 😊
[BUKIT MERAH, SINGAPORE] I thought @kengengkee is for tourists, little did I know that my colleagues were raving about their food and we made an impromptu trip over to eat and we NEVER LOOKED BACK.
The Moonlight Hor Fun 🍜 ($23.80 for L) is a must get. The noodles were silky smooth, even silkier due to the raw egg, and the wok hei in this is INTENSE. Very flavourful, this was really easy to eat and slurp down!
The Coffee Pork Ribs 🐷 ($29.80 for M) is also another must get. Light and crispy on the outside, and soft and tender within, it had the right mix of sweet and savoury flavours, with a fragrant coffee aftertaste. I think this might be the best rendition I've had.
An alternative protein can be the Marmite Chicken 🐔 ($16.80 for S), as it was delicious too with its sweet savoury mix! This was tender and crispy on the outside too.
The Hotplate Beancurd 🍳 ($16.80 for S) and 3 Egg Spinach 🥬 ($23.80 for M) were great as well, thought nothing too much to shout out about.
Despite it being slightly pricey, all dishes were hits and we were a team of 5 that was very well fed. It was about $22.50 per pax, not too bad! Can't wait to be back to try other dishes 😍
I recently visited Shukuu Izakaya and really enjoyed the experience. The food was consistently good across the board—the oden was warm and comforting, while the garlic fried rice was super fragrant and satisfying. I also loved the unagi with egg, which was rich and well-balanced, and the grilled skewers were nicely done with great flavour. The cheese chips were a standout snack too—crispy, addictive, and perfect to share. Overall, a great spot for casual Japanese comfort food with a cosy izakaya vibe.

📍Swee Choon 瑞春 (Jalan Besar)
- Beancurd Skin Prawn Roll 鮮蝦腐皮卷🍤
- Signature Mee Suah Kueh 招牌麵線粿🥢
- Braised Chicken Feet 鳳爪🍖
- Crispy Eggplant with Pork Floss 肉鬆茄子🍆
- Shanghai Xiao Long Bao 上海小籠包🥟
- Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun 奶黃流沙包🍞
The to-go dim sum supper place, providing decent dim sum at wee hours.
Suggest to skip the eggplant, not a fan of that.
Xlb also just so-so, the rest not bad eat.
Had a lovely dinner at Shukuu Izakaya and really enjoyed the experience. The ambience is warm and inviting, with soft lighting, great for a relaxed dinner.
I particularly enjoyed the spicy salmon don. The salmon was fresh and the sauce had just the right level of spice, not overpowering but enough to give it a kick. Very comforting bowl. The mushroom and veggie grill was also nicely done, lightly seasoned and not too heavy.
We ordered quite a variety including grilled chicken, pork balls, and a sashimi platter to share. The sashimi was fresh and beautifully plated.
Overall, a very pleasant dining experience with good food and a cosy atmosphere. Would recommend for casual dinners or small gatherings.
We had dinner at Shukuu Izakaya recently, and it was a very satisfying meal overall. The place has a cosy, lively vibe and feels like a proper Japanese izakaya with warm lighting and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Good for winding down after a long day.
The garlic fried rice was surprisingly one of the highlights for me. Fragrant, not too oily, and packed with that wok hei flavour. Simple dish but done very well. The grilled pork was also excellent: nicely charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, and very flavourful. You can tell they know how to handle their grill.
We also shared the mixed sashimi platter (15 pieces) which was fresh and nicely presented. The cuts were thick and satisfying.
Overall, solid food, good portions, and a comfortable ambience. Would come back again for the grilled dishes and fried rice.
($8.90) consisted of chilled beancured with peach gum; mini taro balls and grass jelly. (add-on Black Pearl ($1.2); Jasmine Tea Jelly (x6) ($2); Taro Paste ($2.5); Brown Sugar) I did ordered more topping to cover delivery and also discount. I like jasmine tea jelly most out of the toppings inside the dessert and got strong tea taste for jelly. Peach Gum was not much taste compared to taro paste was really creamy and milky texture.

📍Flock Cafe (Tiong Bahru)
- Shakshuka 沙卡蔬卡🍅
- Fish & Chips 炸魚薯條🐟
- Ginger Beer 薑汁啤酒🥤
- Flat White 馥芮白☕️
Shakshuka was not bad, tangy tomato goes really well with the oozing egg yolk and sourdough.
As for the fish & chips, usual stuff, normal, good for sharing.
Flat white was not bad too, nutty finish, and cute doggie latte art.
Overall, a cosy cafe to have brunch, chill and hang out with friend.

Enjoyed a great meal at Shukuu Izakaya. The staff were warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. The food was excellent, special shoutout to the udon and the beef potato stew, both were absolutely awesome. Will definitely be back!
Had a great experience at Shukuu Izakaya, food was delicious. Especially loved the gyu don and the salon was fresh as well. Would 100% recommend to try it.
($7.50) They asked me to choose one of three different sugar such as white, brown and bentong ginger syrup. I preferred brown sugar over white or ginger syrup. Their Soya Beancurd got quite really silky, soft and smooth texture. But their red bean really got soft and sweet taste. Matcha balls got real deal for texture and taste but I felt that it was slightly hard to chew through. No wonder SG locals brought out their franchise from Malaysia to sell their dessert. I hope that I can try their snowflake shaved ice for this next time when I passby.
