Decided to try something new instead of ordering the usual Kueh Beng Kah at Violet Oon. And it didn’t disappoint! Fluffy and moist sponge cake - but I didn’t like that they use canned pineapple instead of fresh ones

Idly is South Indian fermented steamed rice cake - served with fresh coconut and tomato chutney at the side. Love the tomato chutney - goes well with the idly!

No idea why they name it cod when it is actually Chilean sea bass. Love the mushroom dashi below, tasted like the milder version of what you would get at a Chinese restaurant for HK style steamed fish.

Smoked soft shell crab, burnt garlic aioli, jicama slaw. Unfortunately this dish didn’t make the cut. Overpriced and tasted just like a normal soft shell crab outside. Even the sauce couldn’t elevate the flavour.

Hasselback potatoes, with mala mayo on top and beef lardons bits. The mala mayo is actually spicy to me as I have low spicy tolerance. Beef lardon bits were abit too oily for me and don’t really enhance the flavour of the whole dish. Nonetheless still an interesting small plate!
