๐ Grilled Octopus ($33)
The first time I've ever had non-chewy octopus in my life. The texture of this octopus was much more tender and meat-like, it had a slight fishy taste so I wasn't too into it as someone who doesn't like seafood, but the fact that it wasn't rubbery impressed me.
๐ฃ Aburi Salmon Mentai Maki ($28)
Really good! It comes with caviar on top too, to make it extra atas. The prawn inside the roll was fried, making it crunchy on top of its soft texture.
๐ท Kurobuta Pork Shogayaki ($30)
Really liked this, the pork was not too tough and had a slightly crisp exterior. It was nicely marinated and seasoned too.
๐ฅฉ Wasabi Wagyu Steak ($48)
We found the steak a little on the drier side, though I still enjoyed it. The wasabi potato mash wasn't very strong in wasabi taste but it was smooth and had a nice texture.
๐ Shishamo (salted capeline w lemon) ($9)
Was very hesitant to try this because as mentioned previously, I don't eat fish. However, I was very intrigued by the concept of the dish: the fishies are pregnant with like a million eggs. Nothing excites me more than devouring unborn babies so I gave this a try and i actually kinda liked it. The eggs had a grainy texture and it wasn't fishy at all. Would try again!
๐ข Kushiyaki ($5-$7 per skewer)
We got 5 kinds of skewers: Mushroom, Shishito (Japanese green pepper), Satsumaimo (sweet ptt), Tori Kawa (crispy chicken skin) and Tori Tsukune (chicken meatball). The presentation of the dish was fantastic, and personally I think my favourite was the Satsumaimo because you cant go wrong with sweet potatoes. The tori kawa was a tad drier, would have liked it if were crispier!
๐ฃ Shashimi Moriawase ($48)
Comes with 5 kinds of assorted seasonal sashimi. I don't eat fish, let alone raw fish, so I wasn't going to try it, but it felt like a shame to not touch this gorgeous dish at all, so I had a tinyyy bit of the salmon sashimi. Yeah, I didn't like it LMAO but it was my first time ever trying sashimi. Really impressed with the plating and I fish-enjoyers will like this.
๐ Tatami Iwashi ($12)
Super interesting, these are crackers made using tiny anchovies. Basically tastes like super crispy ikan bilis.
๐ Elhire ($15)
This is grilled dried stingray fin. Never tried it before but surprisingly, I quite liked it. It reminds me of dried cuttlefish, just that it's much sweeter and a little chewier.
๐ฅ Agedashi Tofu ($8)
I found the skin of the fried tofu to be a little too thick, after soaking in the dashi broth, it became pretty chewy. Still not bad, light and refreshing!
๐ฑ Truffle Yaki Edamame ($9)
Though I couldn't really taste the truffle, the edamame was seasoned really nicely. Just wish it had more of a truffle flavour, but it was salted well.
