🧀Mac & Cheese ($10.90)
I love a good Mac & Cheese and The Tree Cafe’s version is pretty good. The cream sauce is really savoury and kind of tastes a bit like mushroom soup imo, it generously covers all the macaroni. There are also some chicken chunks inside, not a lot but pretty ok for the price. Would get again!

🍟Loaded Fries ($12.90) (7.5/10)
I felt that this was kinda average, there wasnt enough topping to coat all the fries but the serving was pretty generous. Could be more ingredients to sell the loaded aspect, but the price is quite reasonable.

🥩Angus Ribeye Steak ($29.90) (8.5/10)
This was a little pricey in relation to its size, but nonetheless still a good piece of steak. Its well marinated with garlic bits on top and a side of creamed spinach. I think I’d prefer the other dishes over this though.

🍗Chicken Cordon Bleu ($23.90) (8.6/10)
First time trying chicken cordon bleu and it was pretty good. The chicken was tender and the ham and cheese rolled within elevated its flavour.

🍳Big Brosti ($23.90) (8.8/10)
This comes with rosti, an egg, sausage, pork, bacon and mushrooms, plus a side of sour cream. Suuuper good, the elements are all really crispy and savoury. It is pretty oily but thats to be expected, id love to get this again when I’m feeling a little indulgent.

🍞 Black Sesame Roll Cake
📍Beccarino's Patisserie (@beccarino.sg)

💰 $4

The black sesame taste is really nutty and strong. Black sesame lovers wont be disappointed. Theres also a sprinkling of black sesame seeds throughout the cake, that I really like!

🥧 Raspberry Pistachio Tart
📍Culture Spoon (@culturespoonsg)
📌 River Valley Road
💰 $8.50

Presentation wise, this tart is absolutely stunning. The raspberries were super fresh and sweet, I found the pistachio element slightly underwhelming as it was only within the cream. Would have liked for it to be stronger.

Tart base could have been a bit more buttery but not bad! Really like the presentation.

📍Serangoon BBQ & Curry 1983 (@sbc.1983)
📌Sin Ming Road
💰 $

The very first thing I noticed when I visited @sbc.1983 was the long queue emerged from its stall: to every Singaporean, this is a clear hallmark of good food. As the name states, this stall has been in operation since 1983 and serves a range of flavourful dishes, including mutton rendang, crispy fried chicken, muar otah and more.

We were treated to an “omakase” of sorts, with two plates piled with an assortment of their protein and veggie sides.

All the ingredients were flavourful and well-cooked, with the veggies being nicely seasoned and salty enough to complement the rice. My favourite of the proteins was surprisingly the mutton rendang, despite me not usually being a fan of mutton. The meat was tender and not gamey at all! The fried chicken was also nice and crispy yet meaty, and the muar otah was a delight as it wasnt the usual flat piece of otah that I’m used to. It was really thick and soft, yet chock full of flavour and a bit of spice.

@sbc.1983 has a range of set meals with varying prices, you can get an affordable yet hearty $4 meal or treat yourself to their premium proteins like BBQ sotong and curry chicken leg!

🎂 Chocolate Banana Cake
📍Thai Baang Bakery
📌 Holland Drive / Lavender
💰 $7.50

I tried Thai Baang's banana cake last time and absolutely loved it. Someone recommended for me to try the Chocolate Banana Cake so I decided to buy a loaf!

Im not sure if the chocolate part of the cake is solely chocolate cake or if its mixed with the banana batter but the taste of the banana wasn't very strong in the brown parts. There were little bits of chocolate chips, which were nice, but I think i generally preferred the banana cake alone.

The banana cake portion, on the othrr hand, had a soft and fluffy cakey texture. It had a strong banana fragrance, really really good!

I think I'd rather get a plain banana loaf instead of the chocolate banana variety so that the banana taste would be stronger.

🥛Babyccino ($4++)
The cheapest drink available on the menu and my friend got it because getting a drink was compulsory… it’s literally just foamed milk in a shot glass. Cute but insanely overpriced😩

🍵 Matcha ($7.50++)
This is really good, strong matcha taste and a fragrant milkiness to it! Not too sweet either. However the price is really steep.

🍫 Sea Salt Chocolate ($7.50++)
When they name this sea salt chocolate, they mean it. Its like a chocolate drink but its liberally salted, not too salty but it may be a little acquired for some.

🧇 Waffles with Strawberry Compote, Vanilla Ice Cream & Granola ($15.90++)
The waffle was pretty soft and fluffy, and was well complemented by the tart strawberry compote and sweet vanilla. I really liked the crunchy granola bits too! A pretty solid waffle and its quite decently priced compared to their other menu items.
