Perfect palate cleanser, served frozen in a lemon
Looks really simple, but this is quite possibly the best fried calamari I’ve had anywhere!

Slightly pricier than in London, but it’s good to have B&L right here in Singapore. Choice of steamed, grilled, or half-and-half; my preferred option is half-and-half, eating the grilled side first, as the steamed lobster is still succulent later in the meal.
I’d never had the Burger when I went to B&L in London in 2013 & 2017, as back then it was one standard £20+ price for their signature items. Since then they’ve expanded their menus—and lowered the price of their burgers, so I finally tried one when B&L opened in Singapore.
It’s an all-round solid burger that can hold its own, now at a reasonable price, and why not add the aged cheddar & bacon while you’re at it.
(The B&L Pineapple Iced Tea is served in the kopitiam-lookalike bag only at the Jewel outlet, as far as I am aware.)
Tried Go-Ang in Singapore first, which prompted me to check out the original in Bangkok subsequently. Slightly fancier settings in Singapore, with extra dishes on the menu, but the food is still very much affordable for an imported brand.
Visited the original outlet in Bangkok after having tried their chicken rice here in Singapore. Go-Ang’s soup and sauce give the chicken rice meal a different standout character from chicken rice we’re used to in Singapore.
