Dainty desserts that aren't only gorgeous but also yummy to boot. Not usually a scones fan but the ginger scones from Anti:dote are fresh and moist with just enough of that ginger punch. Was skeptical of the savouries but I'm smitten, especially with their cucumber jam sandwich. Love love love their presentation too! ๐
Tai Farfait Strawberrry Chocolate with custard cream and soft serve ice cream ($5.90). Did I like it? Yes! I think I need more than one ๐
Have you been to the 'secret' hideout yet?
I could not resist the cuteness overload of this adorable "taiyaki" (Japanese fish-shaped pastry) with vanilla soft-serve ice-cream spouting from its open mouth. Only with some difficulty did I finally pick the Strawberry Chocolate out of the eleven variants available.
I chose to have custard cream for my filling (they have azuki red bean, matcha and chocolate as well), and it turned out to be very fragrant and thick - nice! My Tai-Parfait was prettily decorated with a strawberry, chocolate sauce drizzle, tiny silver sugar balls and a dusting of icing sugar.
The "taiyaki" pastry was the most pleasant of surprises - it's a cross between a waffle and "mochi", being chewy yet having a light crunch.
Located in the basement of Bugis Junction, this is a must-try if you enjoy Japanese desserts. The service here is excellent too, which isn't surprising as the whole team is Japanese.
Churros are crispy on the outside sprinkled with lots of sugar and cinnamon, while inside is soft chewy and mochi like.
Minced pork with salted fish ้นน้ญ่ธ่้ค are usually served as a steamed item by the Hakka, but this stall owner made an interesting deep fried variation of the pork pancake. The tze char hawker stall is located at #02-217 of Smith Street Food Centre.

It's interesting to see Thai style wanton noodles in Singapore. In fact this is the first one I know. Eggy noodles and they servs dried chilli flakes, fish sauce and sugar as condiments.
One of the most well-done octopus dishes I've had, this had a tender bite with just the right spring in it. And those inky mashed potatoes? Genius.
My lunch set was a signature item from the $14.90 price range of set menus (there're also $10.90 and $18.90 options). It's a true marriage of Japanese and Thai cuisines because with every sip of the soup, I first got hit by the sourness of "tom yam", then the miso surfaced before giving way to the spicy heat of "tom yam" again. Interesting! In my mini hotpot soup were five medium-sized prawns, five clams, small tofu cubes, seaweed and white cabbage - pretty good value for the price IMHO.
Included in my set were a drink (iced peach tea, iced green tea or hot tea) and two side dishes, which I got to choose from a cute little chalkboard. I decided on the macaroni salad and chawanmushi. The latter is highly-recommended as it's extremely silky soft and contained mushroom, crab stick and a slice of fishcake.
