Back at one of my best spots to get handmade fishballs and meatballs. Ru Ji Kitchen has been a family favourite for a long time now - we always get their fresh fishballs and meatballs for steamboats at home! Their default bowl of noodles come with just the fish cakes and fishballs, but I highly recommend to top up a dollar for the meaty meatballs which are so satisfying.

PS. Just saw that they’ve just opened a new outlet at Maxwell Food Center too!

Visited Museum of Ice Cream a bit back for PINKMAS, their Christmas special, where the rooms were decorated in Christmas decor! There were different ice cream flavours at the various stops and each stop had them in different forms - like in cones, cups, with wafer, etc. The flavours were more misses than hits for us unfortunately.

Wanted to get a cup of hot drink after our dinner and found ourselves at Flagwhite! My friend went with the matcha latte that uses powder from Matchaya, while I got myself a hot chocolate that uses chocolates from Fossa. They have it in 70% and 80% chocolate, and I ordered the latter on recommendation by the staff. Enjoyed the fragrant bittersweet notes!

How cute is this Christmas cake from LUNA! It’s adorably shaped like a whole row of Christmas trees, featuring an almond sponge crispy feuilletine base, with 3 distinct layers that complemented each other very nicely - dark chocolate mousse, sweet caramel milk chocolate mousse and yogurt & cream cheese white chocolate. Liked that this wasn’t too sweet, a good option for all the upcoming Christmas gatherings!

Back for mee pok - we used to have this almost weekly, when they still had an outlet in Bugis. Was so happy to see the some uncle today at the Simpang Bedok branch!

Our mee pok was more saucy than we remember, but we did still enjoy the springy noodles. Soup was flavourful as usual. Can’t say that it’s the best around, but it’s always a comforting bowl for us.

Throwback to childhood! Remember Mr Kiasu? 😂 In a special collaboration with Crave Nasi Lemak, they’ve put together what they call the most ‘kiasu’ meal, the Nasi Lemak Jewel. It’s a combination of their nasi lemak rice, fried egg, tempura chicken strip, chicken cutlet and bergedil + a cup of butterfly pea calamansi at $7.90.

If you’re the first customer at their outlets to flash their FB/IG collaboration post (the first pinned post), you get to redeem a complimentary box of Nasi Lemak Jewel - this promotion runs till 2 Jan at most Crave’s outlets.

Pretty pleasantly surprised by East Coast Commune’s hojicha latte. At default, it is done mildly sweet and the hojicha notes were quite pronounced. Could be a bit smoother, but not too bad!

Wu Pao Chun always seems to be ready to welcome Christmas, and it’s no different this year with the whole line-up of Christmas-themed bakes they’ve created. Just some of them are the Wreath of Joy ($3.20) - a soft brioche bun filled with a generous amount of chocolate, Chestnut Cane ($4.80) - a candy-cane shaped bread filled with chestnut paste, and Jingle Ginger ($3.20) - a wreath-shaped bread filled with ginger custard cream and dried diced ginger.

Their bakes are available at both their Capital Singapore and Paragon outlets till 25 Dec 2022.

When you don’t know which pie flavour to pick - Elijah Pies’ Happy Box comes with a slice of each of 8 flavours.

Not a fan of their tart crust unfortunately, we thought it could be a lot more firm, crisp and consistent in its texture. They do have interesting flavours like Speculoos Hojicha, Wild Berry Lavendar & Honey Chrysantemum. Our personal preference among these was the Matcha Latte, that albeit a bit sweet, had quite nice intense matcha notes.

This was shiok! From Seafood Paradise of Paradise Group, we had their Seafood Xmas Fiesta Set that includes a Seafood Bucket, a box of mantous and 4 bottles of Carlsberg. The seafood came in a literal cute wooden bucket! It had Sri Lankan crab, Boston lobster, tiger prawns, mussels, scallops and squid on bell peppers, pumpkin and pearl corn.

The original sauce that the seafood was done in was already very tasty, but they provide a box of 6 more sauces, which made it even more fun to have! There was wasabi mayonnaise, chilli crab sauce, creamy butter sauce, black pepper sauce, sweet Thai chilli sauce and a savoury Chef’s special sauce.

Seafood was absolutely fresh, all of them were cooked just right and done sweet and tender. Especially loved how much roe our crab came with! Available till 31 Dec 2022.

The Joyous Garden Focaccia was a fun bake to dig in to, packaged in a slim reusable wooden box and topped with mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. It’s a savoury piece, and done soft within with a pretty good golden brown exterior. Definitely recommend to warm this up!
