Felt that the dishes I ordered this time round were good. The green curry is not thick and I like that it didn’t feel starchy. Another favourite is the dry pork (featured in the background) which looked dry but was rather tender! Reasonably priced, no GST or service charge.

Beer Thai’s so hidden at the corner you won’t realise it exists unless a friend brings you. The thing about Thai food restaurants are that most places have their own specialities so I wouldn’t want to place one on a higher ranking than another.

I would say the green curry is good here, it’s rich without being too heavy, can easily drink the curry without feeling too jialat. Pls take the pork while it’s hot to avoid it becoming too dry. Ordered the yellow curry prawns as it resembled somboon seafood in Thailand but I was quite disappointed in the sauce that was not anywhere near. We paid around 24 each between 5 of us for about 8/9 dishes.

In any case, not hard to find reasonable Thai food here in sg but you gotta remember the favorites at each place. I personally remember better meals at diandin leluk but then again, dishes ordered were not completely the same.

Look at the beautiful colors. Even with the condiments, the fishy smell was quite strong. I personally enjoyed it, but I guess it really depends your own tolerance for the ‘fishy’ smell. Was pleasantly surprised to find that Jiak is a halal restaurant because the dishes are so chinese. Other dishes I enjoyed were the har jeong gai and the mee goreng. The noodles were not over cooked and super flavorful. I would return to family friendly Jiak again. Do make a reservation, it was fully packed on a Friday night.

Look at the generous portion for this bowl of boat noodles at 6.90. Much better as compared to many other boat noodles stores. The broth is fragrant, there’s lard in it, but did not feel overly oily. Would return for this again!

Omelette without the usual French beans but with finely chopped kailan. A refreshing take on the omelette, went really well with the chili and a great dish to go with rice! Will wanna order this interesting dish again.

I think I found my new fav breakfast place in the area! May’s Kafe serves quite a large variety of breakfast items including toasts and local delights. I tried the dry mee siam which was just the right amount of sweet and spicy! Also had the warm homemade barley which was nicely brewed and with the barley bits at the bottom of the cup. Will return to try other items on the menu.

Too hungry so only took a pic of the tamago. Not the fluffiness around but well cooked nonetheless. The donburis served have the right ratio of rice to protein which I really appreciated. I had the tonkatsu which was not of a big portion but still juicy and tasty. Definitely a good deal to redeem on Burpple beyond!

Curious Palette was crowded as usual. Two of my preferred dishes are the mentaiko belacan pasta with prawns, which was creamy, rich but the fine texture of the pasta prevented it from being overly heavy. The addictive fried cauliflower with curry provided a pop in the mouth. Something that my friends and I all agreed on was that the coffee/ tea provided was of good standard!

Found another gem in the hood. Really enjoyed these two ice cream flavors at kindred folk - rich and milky. Cookies and cream (which was packed with cookies) and cereal flavor! Charcoal waffles was also well done and complemented the flavors. Glad to have enjoyed 40% on Burpple beyond!

I first had Mikawa at the Siglap outlet and was so happy to see another outlet opened in the west. Ordered the Yakitori Platter (both pork and chicken). One for one platter on Burpple beyond ✌🏻The Yakitori was seasoned with salt. I enjoyed the platter even though the flavors were not intense with mentaiko or Tare. Good for my pregnant belly which can’t take food that’s too oily or intense now.

We also had the stir fried yaki soba too - my friend preferred it with more sauce but I enjoyed the lightness of the dish and it was packed with quite lot of vegetables!

Will return to Mikawa again for its convenience, good service and affordably priced food of standard :)

This ebi don is plated so nicely with ikura and various roe. While the ebi was well breaded and fried, the dish was a little too salty for me overall. In fact, I found many of the dishes here on the salty side perhaps of the stronger seasoning used. My friends and I enjoyed the okonomiyaki which was nicely pan fried and could taste the crunch of the cabbage. Known for the premium ingredients at affordable prices, I would say that Misato does an above average job in all. BUT the restaurant doesn’t serve water (must get the Evian bottle) which is a pet peeve of mine.

Wanted to have some fish and found this restaurant which specializes in fish. We ordered the fish with the pickled mustard fish pot and added enoki. Also asked for it to be the non spicy version. While the fish pot does not skimp on the ingredients (packed with fish, salted veggie, fish cake even) we found it very oily, but no doubt it was fragrant.

I think I may give this place another chance because prices are rather reasonable but they definitely need to refine their dishes a little to suit the local palette.
