Great place to chill at, amidst Science Park surroundings, with good quality coffee. The Burpple 1 for 1 deal at $28+ (choice of main course + dessert + choice of drink) is a strange package as the items on an a la carte basis only add up to ~$25 max and yet we were still told to top up $2 for coffee despite the Burpple screen indicating that only alcoholic drinks are excluded! Ah well. We paid $33 in total including the extra $2 and service charge.
This - in Singapore! We were in Geylang to buy school uniforms and stepped into this setting that evoked memories of a past trip to Hoi An. The banh mi is all there is on the menu and 🥖 is freshly baked on-site. The beef version, with meat still pink and tasty sauces with a dash of fresh chilli, was good enough for us to contemplate a second visit! Get the set, which bundles a banh mi and drink for just $5.50. That’s the reason for a constant stream of orders with many taking out 3-4 rolls and iced viet coffee. On googling, we saw various positive reviews too. With holidays abroad not quite possible, we look forward to discovering more such treats on our shores! Better late than never...😋
The sauce was truffle scented - this was not the prettiest dish we ordered but the item with the boldest burst of flavour. Bodacious is a great place to chill at too - to read a book during the day or to meet friends for delicious and well-plated food, in the company of a very gracious and friendly owner. We will be back.
A pleasant surprise - this is $16++ on the menu (before the 50% Eatigo off peak discount)! With the most gorgeously garlicky tartar sauce.
Lovely place to hang out (and pig out) if you can find a parking space. Tiong Bahru has so many dining options, and this is just next to Galicier which has some old fashioned cake and kueh for parents and friends.
Where is this building, in Singapore? We entered this “mansion” not knowing what to expect - and found a lovely, easy setting that transported us to another place and time. And the thin crust meat pizza and ANGUS cheese burger as pictured, were delish too!
The “Truffle Bacon Mushroom Farfalle” is outstanding - the fragrant bacon and mushroom sauce is for those who like distinctive, rich and satisfying sauces. One of the very BEST pasta dishes EVER, in a Singapore cafe!
We have read the story that this outlet is helmed by the original owner’s family. The wantons are better and bigger than its multi- outlet rival, and the chili much better - but everything else is virtually indistinguishable. Get the $5.50 portion rather than the $4.50 one for better char siew and 2 more wantons (see picture).
Here are the sausage main course options (that qualified for the Burpple discount) and a lovely kid’s schnitzel@$10!
This place feel like you have just walked into a friend’s home; there is decent and interesting cafe grub to attract folks in the neighbourhood and students dressed up for a cafe date. Come for the toasties and ice cream by Sogurt.
Chocoholics in the Novena area can enjoy both Choc Origin (United Square) and Awfully Chocolate (Square 2) desserts/ cakes. Choc Origin has seats and this helps as enjoying chocolate should be a social experience! I think the flavour of the dark gelato could be more chocolate-rich - but then this balance here would be fine for most - I am a little extreme. The ice cream “cloying” consistency is good. Awfully chocolate’s Hei is more pricey and you pay and go.
While I love the vibe at Eagle Wings@King Albert Park mall, the ice cream at cosy Kindred Folk just steps away is gorgeously delectable and rich! Our fav flavours - the dark Belgium choc and pure hazelnut - eat them together, and it’s cool Nutella++ heavenly bliss. The ice cream is made with pride, and I’d pick Kindred Folk over so many other ice cream parlours in Singapore! 😍😍😍
