Vietnamese, Cheap & Good
Authentic pho, reasonable prices Fabulous homely food with authentic broth and pho with no additives and MSG. Our go to place with my wife and friends. A taste of Vietnam in Singapore. The owners are extremely friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced and a hidden gem. Chicken pho is a home favourite, Fried dough sticks and banh mi is a must try too.

Mantou Set (5pcs for $4) This is definitely a must-get, because how better to soak up all the sauce from the crab than to pair with crispy mantou 🤤. Definitely not affordable food but it's worth a try with the quality and interesting fusion dishes they have to offer here! Would totally come back for their crab cooked in other sauces! Also, do remember to reserve else you'd prob not be able to get in since they are full-house most of the time! Overall Rating: 8/10

Scorched Vermicelli (Chao Da Bee Hoon) ($32) They have a smaller portion for $18, and these charred noodles come with prawn, squids, pork belly, eggs, chaipoh. Thought this was a decent altho not amazing one. There's definitely crispier and better ones I've tried.

Capricorn ($16) Definitely a must-order, these lightly battered corn kernels were really crispy, and coated with a thick layer of strong salted egg yolk I loved it. Extremely addictive and great for sharing.

Really Good Gelato Experience In hot sunny Singapore, nothing beats good single scoop gelato come ($5.20 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) from @aromagelato.sg especially if you're in Arab Street! The texture of the gelato is nicely chewy. The rum and raisin is really fragrant and the peppermint chocolate is really refreshing 😍

Half Waffles + Single scoop Stumbled upon aRoma while walking around Bugis tryna get my waffles fix heh. Came in for the price tbh $5.20 for half waffles and any scoop of ice cream was very reasonable to me. Seriously glad I went in!! The waffles were crispy outside, soft inside. The pistachio ice cream that I got had a strong flavour and not artificial tasting I love! Comparable to the one I got at Tom's Palette.

Affordable and authentic My usual go to for Thai food if I’m around the area. Garlic pork is fragrant and juicy, while the garlic is nice like garlic chips. Lemongrass fish gravy is very tasty as soup, usually would not order Tom yum soup if I ordered this.

French bean 11nett Rather oily but the Minced meat was nice and seasoning was again on the lighter Side. The French beans were younger i believe(or maybe a different variety from the ones we are used to) , so thinner and crunchy as it should be

Seafood Green Curry One of the popular Thai restaurants in Bugis area that open late night till 6am. A good place to grab supper when you crave for some Thai food at night. Their green curry was very creamy and tasty. You get to choose whether you prefer chicken, pork or seafood. And you can choose the type of noodle as well. I would recommend to go with the instant noodle.

Fine For Affordable Lunch We have been here a few times, close to home. Today we ordered the chicken pad thai and the minced pork dish. (Part of the lunch special menu, 5.90$). For the price, it is pretty good, decent portion for lunch. We found the pad thai sauce a little too sweet though. The service is pretty bad - they always seem to be having a bad day. Gets busy between 12-1. Their green curry is quite decent too. For dinner, I would head to the thai places at Golden Mile instead.

Wanton Mee | $4.50 All I can say is that one can easily have better (and cheaper) wanton mee in our humble hawkers and markets. $4.50 is pricey for something that tasted pretty normal. It was decent, but unimpressive especially when they charge so high. They seem to pride themselves on their fried wanton, but with that expectation, it still tasted like a normal fried wanton I’d get outside. Perhaps branding and pricing can become a marketing tactic or illusion to deem what’s delicious, but this really didn’t get me mind blown. Service staff was kinda aloof too. Rate:🌟🌟🌟

Fried Wanton Noodles Cheap and affordable. Not so bad. Noodles is springy and sauce is good. Chilli have to take yourself.

Cai Fan I felt that the veg and own gravy was too much and oily tbh ($3.50). Their meat and veg portion was quite small imo so I don't think that I will returning back. I felt that it's meh tbh.

Sweet Potato Ice Cream Sweet Potato Ice Cream Interesting flavours served @zerodegreesfactory , including this sweet potato flavour. Aside from the usual vanilla and chocolate base, they also use a coconut milk base for their ice cream. The sweet potato flavour here is gently folded into the coconut milk ice cream. I felt this resembled a little like a cross between bobochacha and orhni which I enjoyed pretty much. The sweet potato is not overpowering but you taste it at the back! Only issue I felt was the presence of come icicles but overall still a pretty ice cream place to check out!

Pineapple Popsicle From a new ice-cream parlour within Sunshine Plaza named Zero Degrees Factory. According to the owner, the Popsicles here are made of coconut water. This was a pretty refreshing on a warm, sunny day; that zesty juice of pineapple, combined with subtle flavours of coconut fused together for a pretty delectable cold treat that is lightly creamy yet icy. Zero Degrees Factory is situated at Sunshine Plaza, 91 Bencoolen Street, #01-52, Singapore 189652

Waffles and Ice-Cream Ice-cream was pretty good quality, and there are a variety to choose from. However, found the waffles to be quite meh. It's alright, crispy enough (though can be more crispy), and it definitely isn't the most fragrant. It's a good cafe to chill at, with friendly staff as well, but that's after the covid situation improved.

speculoos ice cream + waffles $7.80 (managed to get 10% cashback when paid with fave app for usage on my next purchase, so quite worth imo) // anyway, decided to try daily scoop’s ice cream and waffles!! their speculoos ice cream was great, as it captured the ideal cinnamon + caramel flavour of speculoos and i felt like the consistency and texture was smooth, creamy and didn’t melt too quickly. however, if i were you, i’d pass on the waffles as it was too crispy and didn’t rly have any taste
