Never thought minced pork would marry so well with the humble chilli, and the finishing touch of marinade makes for all the magic. Even though the name suggests and the dish is engulfed with chilli, everyone can give it a shot as it’s not that spicy.
Located in the HomeTeam NS building, is an open restaurant overlooking the swimming pool. The menu is simple and burgers are a hot seller as I have heard. They have a weekday set menu which comes with a burger accompanied with fries and a homemade drink. It seemed the best option so went ahead with it and of course we can choose the burger from a number of options. I wanted something different so choose Mentaiko Mille-feuille Katsu Burger which seemed quite unique. It came with a crispy pork cutlet with layers of thin pork slices wrapped around a centre of oozy mentaiko cheese, however it didn’t meet my expectations and felt somewhat dry. The honey lemon juice on the other hand was really refreshing and a saviour (16SGD)
The Halia is tucked within the lush foliage of the Ginger Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It’s concept is of a restaurant in a garden and a garden in a restaurant and the place greatly justifies it. After settling in and consuming the positive energy from around the surroundings I ordered for the “Chilli Crab Eggs” and “Banana & Almond” yoghurt drink to go with. The drink was super refreshing and the main dish cooked with crab meat in spicy tango tomato sauce was good too. The best part I felt is the location and it totally transports one amidst a whole lush green world.
I had already reserved a place even though I didn’t need to as it was a weekday. I had primarily gone for a early morning run around the botanical gardens and I knew once I was done I would be damn hungry. As such I reached the place, and was seated. Loved the lighting of the place and somehow it felt very cosy. After giving much thought I ordered “Bagel Eggs Benny (16SGD)” and loved the way they presented it. It came with a toasted bagel topped with Kurobuta Ham followed by Poached Eggs and Italian Parsley (added a great flavour to the entire dish) serving as the base. I also ordered some fresh orange juice to my quench the thirst. Overall a good place and the food didn’t disappoint at all.
We we’re late in reserving a table for Sunday’s brunch and this was the best we could get. However we were lucky to have found this place and we loved it. It’s a small place with limited number of seats but it’s a great place to hang out with friends or family alike for a good brunch I would say. I ordered “Oceans Thirteen (16SGD)”, the name was quite interesting and it addition it came with things that I love, Smoked salmon, poached eggs, guacamole, beetroot marmalade, arugula, ikura, toast. Had also ordered strawberry smoothie to go with it but didn’t like it that much. Overall the food was really well done and would love to visit a next time.
For me Toast Box relates something to comfort food. If I can’t understand where to go and what to eat, I can always rely on Toast Box. This time I ordered the newly introduced some months ago, the Drumstick Braised Pork Rice, featuring a comforting bowl of braised pork and rice, paired with a crispy chicken drumstick. The Pork rice was good but somehow the drumstick lacked tenderness. The coffee here, I would say never disappoints was inclusive in the set. I always have loved and will continue loving the food here.
A simple dish comprising of baby carrots, potatoes, pomegranate and red wine. The star of the dish, the duck was really well cooked and juicy and jelled nicely with the wine.
It is baked, made with a crust usually made of shortcrust pastry, lemon custard filling and a fluffy meringue topping. It’s quite fresh and serves as a good plate of dessert after a good fulfilling meal.
The burger is comprised of Chargrilled Wagyu Beef Patty served in Toasted Brioche Buns with Tomato Relish, Crunchy Salad, Melted Cheese, Topped with Bacon and Egg. The patty is specially worth mentioning as we don’t get everyday to eat such well cooked and juicy ones, and as I finished devouring one I was craving for one more. Overall the place is not so huge but at the same time it’s cozy and the decor is nicely done.
It seems fancy but I was not that impressed with the taste at all. The donut which is the base is a Kenyan donut which was good, but the Soft serve spoiled it all for me. It was chocolate and didn’t go with it at all. They keep on changing the flavour of the soft serve, so can’t exactly say how much the other flavours would justify it (10 SGD)
This is their signature coffee and it’s sooo equally good, it made me fall in love with coffee all over again. I could sip on this the whole day. It comprises of Australian Mork Chocolate, Hokkaido milk, House Blend Ubuntu coffee. The highlight is the coating of toasted almonds, natural peanut butter and pink peppercorns around the rim of the cup. The thing is that with each sip you take in you must rotate the cup in order to have that unique yet delightful taste (6 SGD)
One of the best breakfast I have had recently. Everything on the plate was so delicious and so well cooked with touch of goodness and freshness. I wanted to eat more but had to stop myself. Plated with Fresh Pork Shoulder, House Smoked BBQ Sauce, Spice Mix, Curried Avocado, Corn Salsa, Poached Barn Egg & Potato Hash. It definitely recommend and not regrettable at all (25 SGD)
