[ROCHOR, SINGAPORE] A humble ramen restaurant has recently opened in the heart of Sim Lim Square, where many have come to this mall for simple hearty meals. @menya_saku.sg is equally as hearty but it is one heavy flavour packed meal.
One look at the 2 ramen renditions we ordered here and you know the soup is going to be thick. In fact, it was so thick I wouldn't call it soup but rather broth. The Special Miso Tonkotsu Ramen 🍜 ($15) had an incredible depth of flavour, which isn't one dimensional at all. The umami flavour is off the charts and really not for the faint hearted. There is a spicy kick towards the end, making me think they probably use spicy miso. The broth of the Special Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen 🍜 ($14) was equally as flavourful, with the garlic and meaty flavours working well together.
For the toppings, both charred char siu and chicken were given. While they were not the most tender, it was really fragrant due to its marination and smoky flavours. The marinated egg was perfectly done. Noodles were standard and al dente.
As much as I enjoyed the entire bowl (almost drank up all the soup), the oil and sodium levels are quite high, so if you like hyper flavoured ramen renditions like Yokohama style or Jiro style then this will be for you!

[JOO CHIAT, SINGAPORE] can I just say that I don't really eat much teochew kuehs, but @ahyeessoonkueh's rendition made me a convert 😍 they have a variety of traditional kuehs to get and my family and I loved all of them!
One thing is constant among all of the kuehs that they whip up, and is that they are generous with their ingredients. All of their savoury kuehs are bursting with filling, and even their glutinous rice is full of dried shrimp which made it so flavourful!
As their yam and pumpkin cakes are full of dried shrimp and various ingredients, there were many layers of flavour and it's even nicer if you can pan fry pieces of them to get a crispy crust 🤤
Their prices are affordable as well, with their savoury kuehs mostly at $1.80 each and sweet kuehs at $1.30 each. You can get most of the items here online via pickup or delivery, which makes things much more convenient 😍 if you are craving for such kuehs, do consider them as your option!
[CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE] Yet another great find at Hong Lim Market! If you are a fishball noodle lover like me, you are going to love this one 🤤 I ordered the medium size portion of $6 and it came with 7 sizable fish and meatballs!
They specialise in making handmade fishballs & meatballs, and I must say they are definitely a notch above the rest. The texture of the balls are delightfully bouncy, with the meatballs definitely much meatier. Both are well seasoned and were not too salty. The soup itself has an old school flavour, but can be a little too salty! If possible you can let them know you don't want the preserved salted vegetables.
I actually love their noodles more, as they nailed both the texture and flavour. The noodles were satisfyingly chewy, with a bite that was really inviting. It was well seasoned with chilli that isn't too spicy and the amount of vinegar used was just right as well. I really can eat alot of the noodles by itself 😍
Ate this for lunch, and I was telling my colleagues that I can eat this for the entire week without a problem 😆 Note that this original Hong Xing does not have any other outlets, and their quality would not be represented by the other "outlets" you may find online!
[FARRER PARK, SINGAPORE] Found another quality Chinese dessert cafe that I will be back again to try out many more of their selections 😍
They are famous for their roasted milk tea, which we got the Osmanthus 🌼 version ($13.90). It may seem expensive, but 1 pot can feed about 2-3 pax. This is meant to drink hot, and you can really taste the amount of quality ingredients in this. It was strong yet fragrant, with just a slight sweetness. At first I wasn't really drawn to the tea, but it slowly grew on me as I appreciated the fresh tea flavours.
If you are not a tea person, fret not as they have great desserts too. One of their famous ones is their Taro Mochi 🍠🍡 ($6.90). You might be thinking about mochi balls, but it's actually the velvety, smooth yet slightly chewy white layer on top. Digging into this reveals a bed of orh nee which was not too sweet and was smooth as well.
I'm glad that their desserts lean towards being less sweet, which is great knowing it's not too sinful to have their desserts. Can't wait to come back to try more items! 🤤
[TANJONG PAGAR, SINGAPORE] @elborracho1224 is a relatively new kid in the block offering omakase courses of a different style. They offer Spanish Japanese fusion cuisine, which is quite rare to find in Singapore!
They had a November promotion 7-course for $88/pax and I must say we were stuffed at the end of the course. The course is quite heavy on its Spanish influence, which is why you will see loads of bread, meats and of course paella.
You can tell the chef knows his stuff, evidently from how good the cook is for many of his dishes. Their paella was fantastic, with crispy edges and well flavoured rice that paired well with perfectly executed seafood. My next favourite is their stracciatella with jamon, which was so addictive with crispy baked baguette. The rest of the dishes were lovely too 😌 I was a little high and I forgot to take pic of the dessert HAHA
While their Spanish dishes were excellent, I felt like their Japanese influence is quite minimal. This restaurant seems more like an izakaya for people to order multiple drinks and tapas to chill, which I would prefer to go for next time. Definitely a place for chill date nights 😍
P.S. the service provided by the chef and manager Mary was amazing too. Thank you for taking care of us!
[BEDOK, SINGAPORE] I honestly can't remember how many times I've eaten their lava cookie & gelato combo already 😂 but it's so good each time!!
Their Chocolate Lava Cookie is still the best, with a lovely molten centre that had a satisfying viscosity when the server placed the scoop of gelato on top. The chocolate itself is rich & decadent, while the cookie has a biscuit-like crumbly texture.
For the gelato we got the Brown Sugar Tau Huay, which I believe is new. Smooth and fragrant without being too heavy, this wasn't too sweet and was a perfect match to the rich lava cookie.
I remember their waffles being subpar, so I would definitely recommend this over their waffles. 10/10 will order this again. Like right now 😂
[CITY HALL, SINGAPORE, 🌟 PROMO BELOW] Guys, if you look your chicken soup thick, look no further as the samgyetang from @bomulsamgyetang is really as rich as it can get. You get to choose among 10 different types of samgyetang & dining here just felt like it was such an elevated experience!
Between the Collagen ($29) & Rejuvenation ($36) soup type, I preferred the first one more, as it wasn't too thick and yet packed with an all rounded flavour that isn't too surfeiting. The ginseng flavour is prominent but not overpowering; the umami chicken flavour still shined brightly 😍 speaking of which, the chicken itself was tender and perfect with salt & pepper given at the side. Opening the chicken will reveal the glutinous rice within, which was flavoured well with garlic.
They do their side dishes well too, as the Seafood Pancake ($25) was such a delight. It was really crispy and well seasoned, definitely sharing quantity among 2-3 people. If you are craving porridge, the Maesaengi Abalone ($29) was really comforting 😌 the seaweed is of a premium kind, which had a seafood umami yet nutty taste. Do note that it's naturally slimy, so may not be for everyone!
All of their side dishes are homemade, and it is really hard to find seasoned garlic which had an extra oomph ~ They have dessert gelato as well and we loved the goma flavour! They have ginseng flavour as well if you are up for it hehe
🌟 GUYS they are having a 1-for-1 samgyetang promotion from 27 Nov - 6 Dec 2025, so please check them out!! They will have a virtual queue so you don't need to worry about standing around 😌

[LOYANG, SINGAPORE] It's legit quite a journey to get here, but you will be surprised by how packed this place can get and how good the food is 😍
@oak.n.ember is known for their barbecue meats, and we had the Ultimate Platter 🐷🐮🐔 ($180) which can adequately feed up to 6 people. You get a variety of meats, from smoked beef briskets, to different pork cuts, to BBQ chicken and various sides that you can choose from! While their beef brisket is decent, their pork cuts were SOLID. The pulled pork is probably the best I've had so far; there's almost no resistance and it disintegrated in my mouth. The smoked pork belly had a crispy skin and their pork ribs were really GOATED. Tender, extremely flavourful and you get none of the pork odour.
Their sides were not neglected, even their fries were much better than most places. Crispy on the outside and fluffy within. Mac & cheese was so darn good too, as it was seasoned well and not surfeiting! Even the coleslaw was so good we had to order another one 😂 Mantous are also given and it was perfect with the meats 😍
Wanted to try their Honey Butter Chicken ($10.50) and the batter was so crispy! Succulent chicken within as well, definitely worthy of a beer snack.
This place is really suited for groups or even family dinners (due to the play area provided for kids). There is no bus stop nearby, so you really have to drive here. I feel like the food is quite affordable for its quality and we will definitely come back here again 😍
P.S. Oh how can I forget to talk about their service! The staff were very prompt to our requests and they were attentive as well. Like the little batter they had with us now and then and the constant checks to make sure everything is okay 👍🏻
[OUTRAM PARK, SINGAPORE] we are very used to the usual Mexican fare like burritos and tacos, but there are more than just these 2! I think I have found my favourite dish here at @mamistamales 😍
For starters, we had the Tableside Guacamole & Chips 🥑 ($26) which would be familiar to most people, but just that they create the guac fresh by your table side. Because everything is made really fresh in front of you, it is extra rich and fragrant; really addictive with the chips.
Next is their famous Pork Salsa Verde Tamales 🌽 ($18), which will be unfamiliar to most people. Made with corn dough and filled with pork and other ingredients before steaming in corn husk, this was a very interesting dish to have. It's flavourful yet somehow tasting healthy at the same time; comforting is the word to call this dish. It's probably the only restaurant selling so far so do give this a try!
I also tried their Pozole 🍲 ($18), which was like a light soup broth with loads of meaty and fresh ingredients. If you like another comforting dish, this will be up your alley!
My favourite dish is definitely their Mami's Enchiladas Suizas 🌮 ($26) which was this sloppy mess that is packed with so much flavour. Tender, succulent shredded chicken is filled in each tortilla, and I like how it was grilled for a slightly crispy texture. SHIOK.

[ROCHOR, SINGAPORE] I would say first that the Slice Beef Soup 🍲 ($16.90) here is not for everyone, due to its initial seemingly bland flavour. Salt and pepper is provided for you to add to taste, and that further brings out the beef flavour in the soup 😁
Most might think that it's not flavourful enough, but I feel like it's purposely made this way to contrast the savoury kimchi provided to pair with rice. The kimchi is made in-house and very different from any other Korean restaurants. Their cabbage is somehow crispier, and the marinade used had a very deep savoury and garlicky flavour. Pair that with rice and chase them with a mouthful of the light comforting soup and you get a satisfying meal!
If you want a deeper flavour, I believe the Half Chicken Soup 🍲 ($15.90) may appeal to you better. The chicken broth flavour is more prominent after adding some salt, and the chicken itself is so tender and succulent.
Come here for comforting soup & amazing kimchi 😋
[RAFFLES PLACE, SINGAPORE] If you are looking for another ramen spot in CBD, @ramen_matsuri is another place to consider. I tried both their soup and dry ramen and I must say, I very much prefer their dry version.
The Original Taiwan Mazesoba 🍜 ($14.80) boasts quite a variety of ingredients with thick cut noodles underneath. For me I feel like the noodles and seasoning sauce are very important in a mazesoba, and their rendition was superb. It had the right amount of savoury and meaty flavour that isn't too cloying, and can be further enhanced with a dash of vinegar they give at the side. With the acidity and chewy noodles, this was very addictive. Definitely one of the best mazesoba I've had. Extra noodles is FREE too!!
I also tried their Yokohama Tonkotsu Ramen 🍜 ($16.80) and I must warn you that it's REALLY thick and meaty. The broth itself can be quite salty and incredibly meaty, which may not be for everyone. They use the same thick noodles that are very al dente. I must say, as much as I like such ramen broth, it really got quite cloying as the taste is quite one-dimensional. It's still decent ramen, but definitely not one of the best I've had!
Please get their Karaage 🐔 ($5.50 for 2) as well, as these were chunky, meaty, juicy and yet so flavourful. Garlic Gyoza 🥟 ($8 for 6) was decent but nothing much to shout out about.
Will come back whenever I crave for mazesoba 😋
[CITY HALL, SINGAPORE] we were at @brothbeyond_chijmes recently for a hotpot meal and we were really quite impressed by the quality of ingredients and the service provided by one of the server, Maine 😍
To me, the most important dish in a hotpot is the soup base and Golden Umami Broth 🍲 was the best. It was really rich and provided great flavour for any other hotpot dishes. Many of their dishes were served with dry ice, giving that fancy vibe to elevate your dining. All of the hotpot dishes were of high quality, and I loved Signature Mushroom Pork Ball 🐷 the most.
They serve a plethora of cooked dishes as well, and the one that stole my heart was their Live Boston Lobster Porridge 🦞, which had so much seafood umami! I like the crispy bits as well which added extra texture. The lobster itself was definitely fresh, as it was taken directly from a tank. Wagyu Prata 🥞 was also crispy on the outside and chewy within, with tender meaty filling which provided much flavour!
Thank you @eatwithkeat for the invite and @brothbeyond_chijmes for the food. It was truly exceptional!
