Prawn paste and minced greens on toast. Really liked this, especially the prawn paste flavour which reminds me of har jeong kai. The meat have a nice chewy texture to the toast, and the mayo by the side really have a nice creaminess to every bite. Highly recommend getting this appetiser to share!

Braised pork belly with pickles, cilantro, and roasted peanuts. Loved the pork belly, rich with a good balance of lean meat and fat. But what I enjoyed the most was the very appetising pickles that complemented the rich flavours of the bao.

Was so excited to try Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian with my recent obsession and after finding out that they were listed in the Michelin Bib Gourmand. There was decent queue on a weekend afternoon but nothing too frustrating, especially since the stall owners were very amicable. It seems like many went for the soup option, but since this was deemed their signature and I love dry pan mee, I went along with this. The chilli was superb, packing a punch even though I went for medium level. Yes, the boss will ask you to choose xiao, zhong, or da la - and she recommends zhong as the normal level of spiciness! Chilli aside, the meatballs, a unique addition, was soft and nice, and not too gamey. Personally thought the ban Mian could be bouncier and not just soft, as it gave a very flat texture to it. That being said, I would return to try their soup noodles!

Thinly sliced charred pork jowl in a bowl, topped with an onsen egg. Nice flavour but nothing mind blowing, but I must say, this was pretty affordably priced for the ambience!

Tsukuba ($4.50)
Miso Glazed Butabara ($6.50)
Only tried 2 grills here but they were pretty delightful. The Tsukumen was juicy and flavourful and I loved the miso glaze on the pork belly.

Saw a number of reviews hyping this up but other than the unorthodox aesthetic. The karage chicken was a tad bit too dry for me, but the chefโs egg mayo added a light creaminess and sourness to jazz up the chicken. Not sure what the gold dust was for - interesting but does not really add value in my opinion.

Finally visited Nomiya and kicked things off with their seasonal oysters topped with seaweed and ponzu sauce. Went for the option with ikura, that cost $18 for 2 pieces. And it was so damn worth it with how huge, plump, and fresh the oysters were! Wished there was a bit more ponzu sauce for more tartness to counter the overwhelming fishiness from both the oyster and ikura.

Oh this packed such a good punch! The sambal here was really solid, spicy with a nice hae bi hiam savouriness in it. The brinjal was soft and nice, though the skin was cooked til a bit too hard.

Had this a pretty long time ago, and somehow I donโt remember it being as good as it was now. The Bak Kut Teh here was on the peppery side - just as how I liked it. For the small size, there was a good portion of pork ribs in it, with the meat being relatively tender (Iโve had way tougher ones elsewhere๐ซ ). A good fix if youโre craving comfort food that is peppery, but Iโve got to admit that itโs one of the slightly pricier ones and there might be queue even after peak dinner hours!

Surprised by how modern the shop was when I visited Geylang Claypot Rice. It was clean, aesthetically pleasing, and honestly, an attractive place for tourists to patronise. Went on a Friday night and managed to be seated immediately, although as with all claypot rice, they warned us that a 30 minute wait is necessary.
The claypot rice was served the classic way, hot and mixed right in front of you. This claypot rice has a good amount of ingredients for its price - chicken, sausages, and salted fish, all of which is a must have for me. The chicken was not as juicy as Iโd like it to be and the chilli on the side didnโt give that nice punch with the savouriness of the rice. But I enjoyed the texture of the rice and the bits of salted fish that youโd get. In all, Iโd think itโs a good place to satisfy your claypot rice cravings because of how accessible and affordable it is!

Absolutely love tater tots and here, the tater tots were hot and crispy! The flavour of the uni Mayo was good, but wouldโve definitely appreciated if there were more sauce to be shared amongst all the tots. The half portion was delightful because it was perfect for trying and sharing, without having too huge a portion.

Huge piece of fried chicken placed on top of a thick French toast served with maple syrup on the side. The chicken was decent, well-battered and very fried but I thought that the batter lacked a distinct flavour. The French toast also fell short because it was dry and not fluffy. It does look like a sinful dish to get but Iโm sceptical that it lives up to how good it looks.
