At $9.80++ the Sumire Salad and Sushi Roll set offers great value for money as a healthy work lunch! Surprising little gem hidden in the streets of Bugis. A must try for those looking for a good value Japanese bite!
An interesting take on the traditional wanton mee. The truffle flavour is evident but not overpowering, preserving the soy base of the noodles. A delicious twist for people who like other truffle flavoured foods like truffle fries, but at $6 it isn't that much better than it's normal $4 counterpart.
Well prepared twist on the traditional Nasi Lemak. It comes in a set with a cabbage based Rojak salad, potatoes in coconut milk curry, fishcakes, fried pork, fried luncheon meat flakes, fried chicken wings and their signature sambar sauce. At $25++ it's a little on the pricey side but it's worth a try for nasi lemak fans!
Finally, I decided to try out the tarts from the shop here that so many have been raving about. Got a box of 5 tarts from their Durian, Chocolate and Cheese flavours. I kinda regret not heating it up before eating (I was hungry!) because the runny filling inside would've been much better if it were hot. Otherwise it was about average and I felt slightly let down...
Authentic Japanese Ramen at $15.90++ with the feel and atmosphere of a true Ramen stall in the heart of Japan. The staff here are friendly and the broth is true to its Tonkotsu roots.
Couldn't resist going back to this cafe for their tasty pastries after my run! Had to do another post for their matcha version of their signature pastry - the Chococro. It's simply too good and at $2.60 it's a steal (especially if you're there to enjoy the ambiance too!)
Went for the ribs and wasn't disappointed! For the first time I could really taste the meat as it wasn't slathered in sauce unlike some places (hint Tony Roma's). At $44 it's meant to be shared between two people but it's definitely a steal with the ambiance and amount of ribs they give (3 racks of 4 ribs or so). A nice place to get your chop!
Tucked away in the corner of a hip, coffee shop styled restaurant, a Mediterranean shop sells Greek dishes. A delicious first stab at the Mediterranean flavour and hey, something new every day at $14.90 right?
A delicious platter of ribs cooked just so slightly differently that you don't get bored of its juicy tenderness. At $40++ it's a little on the pricier side but it offers great value for money, especially for groups since this place is friendly towards large groups with big tables.
A Mexican styled corn flathead with delicious chunks of cheese topped meat. Great for people who like burritos and like pizzas - best of both worlds! Watch your bite as slice by slice they disappear quick...
Collin's offers cheap western food with generous portions, especially with its grilled meats. Fortunately that generosity extends to its desserts to which bring the meal to a sweet ending.
A new place opened by Mark Lee in the trendy Kallang Wave Mall. Called Hotcakes 骚饼 it serves drinks like milk tea and pancakes. Biting into the kaya filled one, it reminded me of a soft Ban Chang Kueh.
They call it crepes and I can see the similarity but the presentation reminds me nothing of its French counterpart. Whether it'll stay as a landmark in the area remains to be seen...
