So great to have KFC in a coffee shop! The chicken was so crispy and juicy, and not oily at all. They were quite generous with their honey butter powder, which surprisingly went really well with the fried chicken. The other flavours (spicy and soy) weren’t that great - the sauce was a little too wet for my liking and taste-wise, not as interesting as the honey butter. Quite cheap for KFC and definitely worth the price!
These crab cakes were filled with quite a generous portion of crab meat. It was very creamy, and not fishy at all. However, I felt it was a tad too loose and soft, and would have preferred if it was slightly firmer. But I think this just comes down to personal preference. Taste-wise, these were great! Although considering the price, you might just want to save your moolah for the beef, which is really what this place is famous for.
Super tender wagyu ribeye that just melts in your mouth. Steak was seared to perfection with a pink centre, and not over-cooked even though we asked for it to be cooked to medium doneness.
The porridge wasn’t too mushy, and went wonderfully well with the sauce from frog legs. The frog leg meat was cooked just right, very smooth and silky. The spicy variant comes with chilli padi which gives the dish a nice kick. The portion would be just right for 2-3 people, depending on your appetite. Great for a cold rainy day like today!

The elderflower jelly and crumbs gave the whole dish some nice contrasting textures with each bite. The buttermilk waffle was one of the better ones I had - crisp, but still soft and fluffy inside. Portion is quite substantial, but perhaps still better to share with friends.

Zi char from Old Place Seafood Taiwan Porridge (now located at 59 Joo Chiat Place) - dishes are super affordable, and each plate is served at lightning speed directly from the kitchen to your table. Pictured is the fried pork, which is definitely one of the must-haves at this place! Super tender, with a good amount of fat that makes each bite super addictive. Other highlights include their chai poh omelette and har cheong gai!
The pancake was a little underwhelming and didn’t really standout. But the fried chicken was great! You get two big slabs of deep-fried chicken thigh that’s very tender and juicy which is more than enough for one. Best to share, if not it can get quite gelat.
