Can’t get enough of the hearty southern food from @yardbirdsingapore! Their biscuits and gravy was a glorious mess of crispy chicken, sticky yolk and crunchy bacon. Also really loved their blueberry pie pancakes — dense yet fluffy and served steaming hot. A side worth trying would be their cinnamon roll — super fluffy, piled with the most amazing glaze that oozes over the whole bun. Will definitely make for a great brunch!
Uggli Muffins at Toa Payoh are really good and value for money! They provide a wide variety of flavours such as banana and walnut, blueberry, orange peel and cranberry, all priced at $1-something and baked fresh. Really liked the caramelised top and the interesting flavours
The @rafflescourtyard x Pun Im collab was pretty interesting! Highlight was the Miang Kham at the top left is a highlight. These one bite wraps are sweet, savoury and spicy all at once. The sweet, sticky sauce binds all of the various condiments together for an explosive bite
Resumption of bigger groups for dining in makes mookata all the more enjoyable! @phukettownmookataamk offers up one of the better mookata deals - approx $26 for their 2 person set which comes with quite a wide variety of meats. Their pork belly is a highlight!
Power crispy pork “Xiao Su Rou” ($15) from @juhuataisg makes for a good bar snack. The green chilli chutney makes for a nice accompaniment that balances out the fatty pork. Also, their cookies and cream stout is really interesting and actually has quite a rich and creamy flavour - worth a try!
Always a must buy when u head to Tanglin Halt food centre. The peanut pan cake (min jiang keuh) from Tanglin Halt Original Peanut Pancake is really the best around imo. It’s crispy round the edges but soft, gooey and chewy inside. They are super generous with their peanut and sugar filling and there’s always extra which spills out into the box for you to mop up
Bossam ($35) from @itaewonjjajang was so tender and good! Another highlight was their samgaetang and mandu — great Korean food at a relatively affordable price. Their banchan was quite limited but at least their mains made up for it.
Interesting “Orh Luak” Oyster Omelette Spaghettini ($20) from @rokettoizakaya! Really liked the crispy oysters that were really fresh and fried nicely. It really had that orh luak texture and flavour that we all know and love. The spicy dried shrimp chilli made for a really good sauce although there was quite a bit of it and slightly overpowering sometimes
Can’t beat the bagels from @twomenbagelhouse! Really liked how the flavours of each bagel came together — of course the cheese made it all the better!
You get the best of everything with the Tokujou Donburi from @fatcowsg, which consists of prawn tempura, unagi, salmon mentai, wagyu, foie gras, served with a housemade sauce over sushi rice. The beef is always a standout, as is their foie gras!
There are many great items from @ioosteriasg but their truffle bread remains a favourite. Crispy schiacciata stuffed with creamy truffle sauce makes for an excellent starter — assuming you don’t stuff yourself full before the rest of the food comes because it’s so good
The butabara (pork belly) from @jinjosg was so good! Super tender, with just the right amount of fat that makes it melt in your mouth. Pairs wonderfully well with the miso sauce that it comes with which was super umami.
