When I read that La Porpo is Chef Bjorn Shen’s favourite ayam goreng place, I knew I had to check this place out! We headed there for dinner on Saturday and there was quite a snaking queue, but I gotta say it was worth the wait as their ayam penyet is one of the best I’ve had so far in Singapore!

The chicken is really thoroughly smashed, and had a super crispy skin yet tender, juicy meat! The sambal chilli that came with it is seriously no joke - damn spicy and I had to ‘steal’ my friend’s coke 😂 to deal with the heat!. My only gripe was the butterfly pea rice (not sure if this is the default with the set, as I’ve seen variations with green pandan rice too), which I found quite clumpy and lacked any fragrance.

But it doesn’t really matter as the chicken trumped all! Will definitely keep this on my ayam penyet rotation, and will check out their highly raved ayam geprek too!

This pizza is DA BOMB. I’ve never eaten such a simple but delicious pizza. The bread is light and fluffy, tomato sauce is tangy and goes perfectly with the burrata cheese. THIS PIZZA IS DA BOMB.

this place has Burpple too but you need to inform the waiter to use it before ordering which I didn’t so I ended up paying full price. But definitely no regrets.

Looking forward to try other dishes in the menu!!

Probably the most disappointing plate on the table, mostly cos of the price. So not worth nine bucks. That sauce had a weirdly fruity taste. Imagine mayo with fruit flavour... The falafel balls seemed a little raw in the middle

Comes with chunky fries. The Tahini was mixed into the salad so it was very confusing whether it was tahini or not. It did not taste like it at all. More like some cheap counterfeit tahini.. Ordered the burger without tomatoes and it's even printed on the receipt "no tomato" but it came with two slices of tomatoes... Confusion and more confusion.

Creamy and fragrant soup which tasted like a healthier version of normal laksa. The faux prawns were good and not too chewy like the "fishballs". I did feel like I should have ordered something else...

Filled with small chewy pearls, soaked in a brown sugar syrup, the taste was more honey-like than brown sugar to me. Shake very well or else it would be sickly sweet! The milk was creamy and thick but not too thick. Would probably get again when I'm not feeling too guilty about my diet 🙃

Chicken thigh meat is pretty tender but not my cup of tea. My friends liked it. The rice was flavourful, like how chicken rice should be. The chilli was great! The brown one was made of hoisin sauce (I think), ginger and green chilli -- this was great too! For the price, it's worth a try! I do wanna go back for the noodles since they're pretty affordable, too.

Put that knife aside, it isn’t needed here. These beef cheek chunks are fork tender and oh-so-good! It’s a classic pairing of beef, sauce and mash, but satisfying nonetheless.
