[Available on Burpple Beyond] Not sure what I was expecting with squid ink pasta, but I sure as hell didn’t expect it to embody the taste of tomato base. It wasn’t too bad based on the time I sampled a bite from my friend’s plate - it was actually the first time that I tried anything squid ink, and its safe to say I liked it! However, I will admit that it’s pretty good even though it’s not my cup of tea. 🤣

[Available on Burpple Beyond] It’s a pretty amazing thing to know that Burpple has finally hit the talk of the town status among my circle of friends with Burpple Beyond. I remember being introduced to it and got so excited because I truly felt that it was a step in the right direction and of course, value for money with good food! 😍

Me and my friends swung by Marina Square for dinner. They were dying to have me try this one out as they’ve had the food before at their other outlet, to which they were coloured impressed.

And I can see why! There was a pretty good flavour to this from the cream sauce - and the gnocchis were satisfyingly bouncy and chewy with every bite. For those whose palates are familiar with gnocchis though, I’m quite certain this doesn’t exactly embody the usual texture. I was fine with it though!

Real talk though - I did start to feel queasy towards the end, but alas, nothing that chili flakes couldn’t fix. 😇 This place also does not charge you GST, which makes a Burpple Beyond deal here a knockout. 👊🏽✨

They say your love for food will begin from home, and I couldn’t agree any more with that! I’ve been to so many houses this Hari Raya, but none of them could ever measure up to my mum’s lodeh and beef rendang. The flavours are so perfectly balanced, and the beef chunks are relatively tender…I could go on and on describing about how magnificent this is, but nothing will ever do its taste justice.

It’s the very thing that I look forward to whenever Eid celebrations come around. 😍

[Muslim-Owned] A fairly delicious burger, even though it doesn’t really strike me as anything remarkable in taste. The cheese sauce packs a punch in flavour though, making it the highlight of this one. 🥴 A word of advice - please do not get this to go. I made the mistake of doing that and the beef got pretty soggy and slimy towards the centre. 😪

The service was pretty dope though. The guy at the cashier was super chummy, casual and had a pretty good sense of humour. I walked away with a pretty excellent impression of the place, to be honest! (7.3/10)

[Available on Burpple Beyond] My first acai bowl had me thinking to myself: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Why the hell have I been sleeping on this?!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This superfood squad from The Açaí Beach Club felt like the midway between a guiltless and a cheat day meal – the burst of fructose from the fresh cut fruits and the ice-cold purple gold açai honestly had my mind in a teeter-totter, I swear. But alas, the ending impression I had - this was a refreshing, guiltless alternative to the arsenal of conventional dessert items. My friends and I agreed that we were converts after this. 👏🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A tip though - you might want to leave a bigger stomach space for this because it is more filling than you’d expect. In fact, you could consider trading a carbohydrate-laden lunch for this, and there’s a good chance you won’t be mad. 😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is also available on Burpple Beyond, so it was all the more a bang for the buck – from $11.90 per bowl to $5.95 for two bowls, assuming I did the math right. Hahaha. 🧐 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, the cleansing power that this had - WHEEEWWWWW. We shan’t delve into the details, but I think you can catch my drift. (7.8/10) 😶

The great thing about the Jewel Changi Airport outlet of L’eclair is that everything is alcohol-free and uses fish gelatin, making it accessible to Muslim patrons.

I hadn’t seen this one before though, which compelled me to get these as part of a box of 4 ($32). And the flavour of this…pretty darn amazing. The umami and astringency is beautifully balanced here - nothing too strong unlike specialty green tea houses that do matcha desserts.

While the thought of it being too sweet didn’t cross my mind, I have a hunch some matcha maestros may find it that way. Personally, I liked that the sweetness added a element of brightness to the taste! After all, aren’t desserts typically known for being sweet? 😛(8.8/10)

[Halal, Eatup, Available on Burpple Beyond] For those new to Nashville Hot Chicken, the story behind this revolves around the girlfriend of a man who was so inflamed that she made him devilishly spicy chicken for him as a form of payback. The gag is that the man found the spicy chicken so good that he turned it into a business venture. 🤪

The spiciness intensifies exponentially with every tier. The difference between Medium Hot and Extra Hot is your mouth feeling like it’s engulfed in flames. So choose your level (or challenge if you will) wisely. 😱

Spicy food veterans would know that there are numerous types of burns that the heat brings. For the Extra Hot, it takes a few bites to set off the spice singe. Move up one tier to Insanely Hot, and it’s a different case. It doesn’t immediately singe your mouth, but once it slids down your esophagus, that’s when all Hell will break loose. I think I drank too much Ice Lemon Tea during the Eatup because the heat wouldn’t let up! 😭 If you’re prone to getting indigestion, I will stress again - choose your spice level wisely!

If you’re able to get past the burn, you’d realise just how lip-smackingly good the fried chicken here is. The flesh is succulent, moist and juicy. The skin, crisped enough till it gets grooves that trap the dry spice rub. It’s greasy, spicy greatness that will leave your body in shambles, but will strengthen your resistance to spicy foods. 🤤🤯

Thank you so much Burpple for extending the Eatup invitation to me! 😛

Demonic prices at the bazaar, even though they aren’t anything new. 😭 I must say however, that the Pancake Stack with Boba from Alley wasn’t too shabby at all. The thin trio stick of pancakes were cooked pretty perfectly, and paired nicely with the dollop of Chantilly cream and gobsmack of boba pearls. Sweetness wasn’t overbearing at all, which was the aspect of the dish that surprised me the most.

I have several gripes though:
• The price was absolutely not worth the portion I received
• The cream melted into an unrecognisable form as soon as the boba pearls landed on them, so you have to be lightning fast when getting photos
• The tea pancakes was devoid of any tea flavour

In spite of these though, I’m really not mad at it. 🤭 (6.7/10)

These sweet potato fries are unmatched and unprecented - like I have never had some that were as fluffy, delicate and as crispy as the ones here. It’s insanely good, even though its peak quality is ephemeral and ebbs away fast as it becomes cooler by the second. (8.4/10)

These meatballs were outstanding. So tender to the prick of a knife, so succulent in the middle and the sauce which comprises beef stock, foie gras and Madeira sauce. For a lack of better description, I was shook. Something as simple as meatball has never tasted this phenomenal. (8.4/10)

This was on the pricey side, but if you have Eatigo, you should definitely go for the slots between 6:30pm to 7:30pm as they will get you 50% off the items! 😛

The trio sliders comes in three variations:
Salty – beef, bacon (opted to not have this) and blue cheese
Sweet – tomato relish, onion marmalade, Zuni pickles and Irish aged cheddar
Spicy – lettuce, tomato and sriracha sauce with pickled jalapeño

To be honest, the patties were a little dry. However, the flavours permeated from every component and landed on on my tastebuds, much like the gush of water that rushes to hit the ground from a height. I mean this in the most visceral manner as I can, so forgive me if it doesn’t seem to make much sense. 😂 The salty one was definitely my favourite, as it was decadent and satisfying, and came in guiltless portions! 😍 (7.5/10)

Had this back during the Labour Day weekend. I decided to take my mind off things with a ME! time at Percolate, where I had their Pulut Hitam cake.

I thought was pretty ordinary in taste, but I’m kind of sucker for fusion cakes. It could use a little more of that pulut hitam goodness, that’s for sure. 🖤 But I paired it with a cup of their Hot Coconut Chocolate, and it made for the perfect cure to the Sunday blues. 😘 (7/10)
