A medium-sized pot of Royal J's Fried Porridge ($15) can generously feed a party of 3. The fried shrimp, cooked yam and dried cuttlefish come together well with the "wok hei", lending a depth of flavour to the dish that is simple yet extremely memorable.
I love how GRUB takes a simple, thin cut of grass-fed beef and transforms it into something so memorable. Cooked to a tender perfection, the beef goes well with the generous lather of tangy mustard cream sauce atop a bed of sweet, caramalised onions. This is the perfect quick fix at $19 if you're craving for steak after a good workout at the park.
The famous dessert that fills your mouth with so much sweetness, it's addictive. The branch at Race Course Road serves it with a tad bit more rose syrup and a sprinkling of crushed pistachios, making it worth the $4.
$8 for a happy pile of rice lathered with sauces and mountains of vegetables will always be worth it. If you've always shied away from Indian food, try this out for the fun of mixing curd with curries, and get ready for an explosion of flavours in your mouth - you'll be transformed on the spot.
Decent bowl of your basic ramen ($13.90) with light shoyu broth, properly cooked noodles to your preferred texture (in my case, "Normal"), 2 slices of char siew, seaweed strips, and a piece of laver. Disappointed when we were told that there was no Ramen Egg today (what's ramen without the egg??). The menu was limited to boot. The shop's an OK place to go to when you've got some cash to spare on basic ramen, but not exactly "great" enough to come back, in my honest opinion.
Kirsch-soaked cherries indeed!! Bursting with flavour - a must-have dessert! $12.00 per slice is well worth the try.
$10.80 may seem like a tad bit more than anyone's willing to pay for just two types of sausage samplers, and just 5 pieces each. We opted for beef and pork, and both were typically meaty with the right amounts of flavour. Pork sausage had some herbs and spices in them which were delightful. Mustard dip is a must!
Really huge portion for $21.90! Vegetables are gently roasted to an appetizing sweetness; thick portions of pork cutlets that are breaded generously and deep fried. Could do with slimmer cuts and lighter breading but the meat went amazingly well with the brown sauce. Wished there was a light gravy that came with the mashed potato, but that could easily be forgiven with the potatoes done to a silky perfection.
