The noodles looked like spaghetti but actually not, they were more chewy and a little more starchy. A very novel bite. I had the Tae Ppong. I could definitely taste the smoky overtone (what local SG people like to call "wok hei"). Overall the flavour profile leaned to sweeter side, and a little nutty. I'm suspecting it's actually inspired by Thailand's Pad Thai dish but I might be wrong. Overall a good experience and I might try other dishes especially when I still have @burpple Beyond 1-for-1 deal.

I started this account only a few months back and I have been back to Song Kee so many times. The visit before this I tried it with kway teow and it didn't go so well for me 😂 This visit, I tried mee kia (thin noodles) instead, even after boldly declaring that I'll only ask for mee pok for the rest of my visits. Curiosity got the better of me. I think mee kia went well with the awesome sauce, I just got more of the sauce per scoop. And of course for the toppings they are the best. Fishballs, fish dumplings, fish paste.. All fresh and super yummy.
Shall I try it with bee hoon next? Or mee tai mak?

Unfortunately it was all very underwhelming. I ordered the wanton noodles topped with shredded abalone for extra $5 coz I figured I had come all the way... Why not! I didn't regret the added abalone but I was left dissatisfied by the bowl as a whole. The char siew was good, yes. The wantons were relatively huge and plump, yes. But after that the noodles and sauce were like an afterthought and were just so disappointing. The sauce was just sweet, very one dimensional. Now I'm a big proponent of a touch of sweetness in a dish to elevate the savoury/umami taste but this one was just sugar city all along. Kudos though for the accompanying soup (not in picture) which tasted like legit herbal chicken soup. I wish it was better and I could recommend it more highly, but sorry, nah...

This place has truly made a name for themselves with their fresh handmade noodles. The name L32 came from the location in Lorong 32 Geylang. Now I actually used to live in Lorong 33 Geylang but I never patronized this stall often because it always had a steady long queue. I had tried to takeaway it once but I wasn't impressed. When I had it for dine-in, though, I realized why it wasn't as nice for takeaway. The dry version has dark, slick sauce that's pooled at the bottom of the noodles. Even with the short walk back home to Lorong 33, this sauce if not mixed properly would fall flat. After mixing, the noodles transformed into dark yummy strands. Meatballs were fresh, and the anchovies plus fried shallots/onions gave really nice crunch. The usual egg topping was served inside the soup as well which, well, whether intentionally or inadvertently became egg drop soup.
All in all I get the hype now. Will be back to try other offerings of fish, seafood, etc. ➡️ L32 Handmade Noodles

This stall is quite ubiquitous around the island l, they're usually a staple in Food Republic outlets. For a "chain" stall they are very decent. The base sauce was very thick. It had this strong tomato/ketchup taste paired with lard and punchy chilli.
Fishballs bouncy, but maybe a bit too chewy if that's a thing. Fish dumplings decent but couldn't hold a candle to Song Kee's. The fish cakes were a bit too greasy paired with the already greasy noodles. All in all very decent attempt and easy to reach since very ubiquitous!

I got the dry u-mian and I could see them churning the noodles upon order. The noodles were really chewy and with a good bite. The base sauce was dark and slick. It had a lot of umami especially with the mushrooms. The accompanying chilli was tangy and a bit gingery and it juxtaposed nicely with the rest of the savoury taste. Such a satisfying bowl. Would be back to try other types of noodles!

Actually I wanted the sausages originally but they were not available 😔
The handmade pasta was excellent! However the meatballs and the sauce were a bit too salty for my taste. This place also has many many other types of pasta that I'm excited to try next!

Didn't even manage to take pics of the toppings. Let's just say many things happened that night lol
The noodles were in this fragrant oil and topped with shallots. There was also free-flow crispy pork lard! The chilli sauce given was also pretty good. For the toppings we had the pork belly and the fried dumplings with XO sauce. Both really excellent, and you just gotta trust me on that coz I have no pictures of them.
Overall a very enjoyable meal. Some would say that this place is too hipsterish and whatnots but hey good food is good food.

The char siew had that sweet, smoky caramelized taste, and so fatty that it just melted in my mouth with so much flavour (remember fat = flavour). The siew yoke was crispy and tasty but the char siew was still the star by miles. Not a lot to say about the noodles unfortunately. It was decent, but definitely it wasn't concocted to be the star of the dish. The base sauce was a more light soy taste, which I appreciated as it gave way to the excellent char siew. This place is also known for their herbal soups that are brewed in house in huge pots, but as I was dining alone it seemed too much to get soup as well.

Ban mian / you mian is one of those dishes that are hard to capture on camera. Unlike, say, wanton mee with its bright red char siew contrasting with yellow noodles and green vegetables, ban mian is usually deep inside a rather plain looking cloudy broth. Even that being the case, this broth was so yummy and slurpable. Since I usually have noodle bowls with oily base that can easily get too rich and too much, it was comforting to have this hearty soup. The you mian held nicely, and the freshly cracked egg half boiled beautifully and gave an extra silky feel. Also this stall had fuzhou fishballs so I asked for them as extra. All in all a delightful, hearty meal.
