Enjoyed the thicker, chewy pasta in the carbonara chitarra ($24++)! The sous vide egg was a nice touch but I found the truffle cream sauce rather one dimensional and cloying.
A really good bowl of sundubu ($8)! It doesn’t look like much, but the bowl is deep and chock full of ingredients. It comes with an array of seafood and the requisite tofu & egg! Would love if it was a tad spicier, but this was very satisfying.
Was craving korean and remembered this place! Prices have increased but the food remains good. The pork bulgolgi ($9) is tender and lightly spiced. Each set comes with a choice of sides! Found the anchovies a little too salty but the kimchi is delish and sour.
Such a pity that they no longer allow dine in or reheating of pastries! The almond croissant ($5) was still crisp, but I would have preferred it warm. Loved the added crunch from double baking and the almond slices on top, but found the inner layers a tad dense. The frangipani filling was not too sweet but a little plain!
Island Creamery has lost the charm of its earlier days. Service is curt and unfriendly, which was quite a turn off. The serving of double scoop ($7) in each cup also varies considerably and is definitely not worthwhile! Enjoyed the kopi and banana, which were richly flavoured. The teh tarik felt a tad thin and too sweet. The soursop pomegranate was most disappointing - nary a hint of soursop or tartness.
The only place I go to for tom yum ban mian ($4.50) :”-) love the large portion of chewy noodles and generous ingredients! Soup is bursting with flavour but not MSG-laden.
Not quite the sort of kbbq you’re accustomed to! Friday’s count as weekends, so the buffet ($19.80) costs more but comes with a larger selection of ingredients. Some of the highlights were seabass, dory, flower crab and crayfish! The meats are well marinated but heavily salted. We opted for the collagen broth, which was flavourful and thick. We found the set up a tad too small for a group of 5 - it doesn’t fit much so the turnover of food is quite slow. Also, do note that the promotion (5th diner eats free) only applies from 5-6 pm.
Opted for a medium cup ($5)! Tried tiramisu for the second time, and am happy that they’ve improved it with the addition of finger biscuits :-) it melts really quickly and I’d love a stronger espresso flavour, but the alcohol is robust. The genmaicha is nicely roasted with a mild sweetness!
Wholly concur with the chef’s recommendation! The tiger prawn capellini ($28++) features angel hair pasta tossed in lobster oil with fresh chilli. The charred spring onions really elevated its aroma! Would have liked the prawns to have a stronger grilled smokiness, but they were sweet and succulent. Dining at Dusk was certainly an experience, especially with the great views and excellent service!
The duck confit ($33++) won us over with its crispy skin and flavourful fat. The portion is a little small, but it packs a punch especially with the balsamic glaze! Paired our dishes with wines from Argentina and Australia, which our server recommended.
Opted for baked raclette cheese ($18++), although staff recommended the burrata! The shaving of warm savoury cheese is topped with paprika, which lent a hint of spice. The olives and onion marmalade balanced it with acidity and sweetness!
Shared the burpple set amongst 3 people and it fed us well! Loved the phad thai with omelette ($10.50+) - a really sizeable portion with just the right hint of sweetness! The omelette didn’t add much though, so it’d be just as good without. The green curry with beef ($13.50+) was rich with coconut!
