The garden city linguine (16++) came as part of the family set which you can order on FFT’s oddle page. This was surprisingly delightful - a medley of roasted vegetables tossed in a tangy tomato sauce. It was a definite crowd favourite!

Ordered the fish & chips as part of burpple beyond’s set ($20+ for 2 mains & 2 drinks). This is hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long while - the fish is flaky and succulent, with a light and crisp batter!! None of the heavy greasiness you find in some renditions. Tartar sauce was forgettable but the fish is brilliant on its own!

Ordered this prawn aglio oglio as part of burpple beyond’s set ($20+ for 2 mains & 2 drinks)! The pasta could afford a spicier kick, but it is fragrant with garlic and a tinge of white wine. The prawns were a letdown - clearly frozen, and neither firm nor succulent.

The sanuki beef egg udon ($11.20) is by far my favourite item at Tamoya!! The thick chewy udon absorbs the slightly sweet, umami soup very well. The beef is thinly sliced and very tender! They are extremely flavourful and perfect when dipped in egg yolk.

The soup of this black garlic tonkotsu udon ($10.80) can not compare to the richness of most ramen joints, but it was sufficiently flavourful! Didn’t like that they used pork belly instead of the usual charshu as it was rather fatty and tough. The udon itself is very good though, I love how chewy it is!

Used to love these noodles but the standard seems to have dropped quite a bit :-( the white bee hoon ($9) tastes like regular bee hoon, without the rich brine of seafood and distinctly lacking any wok hei flavour. The belachan chilli continues to impress though!

Expected the black tea latte ($3.20) to be creamy with a strong tea flavour, but it was rather weak and tepid. Enjoyed the cocoa pearls ($0.70) - they were chewy and with a subtle bitter sweet chocolate taste!

Honey lime green tea ($3.20) was really refreshing on a hot day! Honey pearls ($0.70) were good as usual but the only thing we could taste was lime juice - all in all, not worth the premium price tag for something I can get at a coffeeshop!

A friend recommended this and said it’d be life changing, and boy was he right! The coconut shake ($4.40, regular) features a thick smoothie with bits of coconut flesh inside. It’s topped by a scoop of ice cream! I opted for 0% sugar and it was still a little on the sweet side. Surprisingly refreshing and a vvv yummy dessert!!

Totally understand why these braised beef cheeks ($25++) are so highly raved!! The beef is extremely tender and falls apart easily. The meat can afford to be a little more seasoned, but it works out well enough because the other components (sautéed mushrooms, bacon, mash potato) pack a lot of flavour. The red wine comes through beautifully!

Eleven Strands has won me over 😭 it has been on my list of places to try for the longest time, and I’m happy to say that it surpassed my high expectations! Ordered their crab meat pasta in red sauce ($25+). Would have liked the sauce to be a little creamier, but it is tangy with a nice hint of spiciness. The crab meat is broken up into smaller pieces and mixed in! The tomatoes and spinach lent dimension to its flavour and texture. Opted for their handmade tagliatelle (+$3) and it is worth every cent - the pasta had a great bite, and it’s thicker width paired well with the sauce!

The mud pie ($7++) features a cookie crust, filled with chocolate ganache. The portion is a little small but this was a delightful end to our meal! The chocolate filling is thick and rich, with a slight saltiness in the base to balance its palette.
