Can never pass up getting a thyme infused cone and gelato/sorbet when visiting the east. The waffle cones are so fragrant, you can smell them cooking from the bridge crossing the road to Birds of Paradise. There's still an insane queue for the gelato even minutes before the shop closes. White Chrysanthemum seems to be a popular choice, but I prefer the fruity flavours like Mango and Lychee Raspberry.

Enjoying weekend brunch with a twist. A step away from the usual cafe fare, Xiao Ya Tou jazzes up some local favourites for brunch.

Like this take on one of my all time favourite dishes — the simple Chee Cheong Fun is served with juicy, tender dongpo beef and home-made hoisin sauce on the side then sprinkled with shallots and toasted sesame. This will always be a comfort dish to me.

Weekend brunch at Xiao Ya Tou is available on Saturdays & Sundays 10:00am – 3:30pm. You can even order from their range of locally inspired cocktails if you're yearning for an early drink.

GRAINS — quinoa, bulgar, almond, cucumber, dried tomato, mesclun, avocado, fine bean, pomegranate and yogurt dressing.

More my type of dish—light, refreshing, healthy. Could do with a little bit more flavour for the dressing, but the dried tomatoes and pomegranate did help to add a little bit more sweetness/tanginess.

Hustle Co. serves up coffee with beans from A.R.C. A little weak with milk (for my taste buds), I heard the blend is not great as a black coffee as it's a little too acidic. The staff at Hustle do recommend to have the coffee with milk too.

Stack of 2 fluffy pancakes covered with blueberry compote, a scoop of mascarpone, sprinkle of candied nuts and maple syrup ($18 nett). Honestly the plating could have been a little nicer as it looks really dark and gory in real life. But overall, this is a good dish if you're into pancakes.

For myself I found that the pancakes do get a little overwhelming especially parts where there's no sauce to break through the cake like texture of thick plain pancakes. A little more maple syrup on the side might help.

The space has nice big tables for groups to gather and free wifi! 🤓

One of my all time favourite foods, tonight's offering at Tamoya Udon didn't disappoint. My favourite being a throw up between the Beef Sukiyaki Udon ($13.80) and this Double Tempura Vegetable Udon ($13.80).

Will definitely be back for more springy udon noodles in future.

This is a must try if you're visiting Boca—even though that might just be my love for clams speaking. The serving portion was really generous leaving grins on our faces and this was just the start of our meal. More to the lemony, light sauce side rather than buttery, thick sauce. No preference for the type of sauce really, but the lemon does help to cut through the seafood taste.

Truly wholesome Watercress Soup with sous-vide poached egg and served with gluten-free fried bread.

You definitely need to love your veggies and watercress to like this soup cos it has a bitter after-taste. But if you're ok with that, this rich soup has a super smooth texture with sweetness from Wolfberries, and the addition of the poached egg adds an extra comforting touch.

This is suitable for Vegetarians and is gluten-free and dairy-free too.

Seared Scallop And Prawn pasta with whole tiger prawns and Japanese scallops in a prawn bisque sauce ($25++). Add $1.50++ to make it gluten-free spaghetti or penne. I opted for the penne, and for gluten-free pasta standards I would say it's above average in terms of preparation, quite easy to tell it's off-the-shelf stuff. At least the pasta wasn't hard or crumbly, but it just didn't have the same springy textue as freshly made gluten-free pasta. But I'm not really complaining. It's nice to see more places that have gluten-free options.

Overall I enjoyed this dish. The prawn bisque sauce was just nice, sometimes seafood bases can be overly fishy, but this was perfect. The prawns had their shells half removed so they were really easy to eat. Plus springy scallops!!! 😍 Need I say more?!

We enjoyed 2 mains for the price of 1 here using Entertainer App. Which just meant we could spend a little more on desserts. 🤣

There's too many favourite options for me at Open Door Policy cos everything is gluten-free, but this is definitely one of them.

King Crab Orecchiette—with nice big chunks of crab, crisp snap peas and a saffron corn sauce. Love the pasta here as it's very rare to find gluten-free pasta that actually tastes good and has an enjoyable texture like normal pasta. The pasta and sauces are all made from scratch to ensure even coeliacs can enjoy the food. Plus they grow and use their own herbs in the restaurant.

ODP is also dairy-free and provides vegetarian options if you're looking for a place that suits friends with selective food requirements.
