The yellowtail was one of our faves here! Super thick, fat and buttery 👍🏼
Super Dario world comes with beef, spinach and ricotta cheese while Super Dario is filled with beef and parmesan cheese. Second time here at this cozy cafe but I still love the vibes here - not too crowded, free whiffs of freshly baked lasagna and cheese all around in the air and a really friendly Italian boss who would share with you proudly about his different lasagna creations. The portion may look small but it was definitely filling enough!
A light and buttery flaky croissant! Wait... does light and buttery even co-exist? Somehow, this croissant managed to do it! Filled with sweet-but-not-too-sweet almond paste filling and topped with crunchy sliced almonds, this was such a delight to enjoy for an afternoon tea time snack.
Pro tip: If the weather out there isn’t too hot, sit at the alfresco area to enjoy your croissant warm while watching the world go by 😌
Quite worth for $3.20! Salmon belly was fatty and sweet
After watching sethlui’s video on how this restaurant operates (double conveyer belt system, nigiri making machine), the bf clamoured to come here to try out this kaiten sushi restaurant. This salmon belly was fatty and not the most thick but not super thin either. With the torched till melty and oozy cheese, the entire mouth was even more smooth and decadent.
Pro tip: Get this instead of the normal salmon belly! Somehow the salmon belly here was a bit fatter and thicker
Staff discount for selected lunch mains! I enjoyed the variety of vegetables in this poke bowl from grilled eggplant, carrots and corn to baby spinach and blanched broccoli (all the vegetables are lightly seasoned and very tasty!) These came with salmon sashimi coated in Japanese sesame sauce and served with sushi rice and an onsen egg. Everything was good except I thought the sashimi wasn’t that fresh.
Seasonal flavour that will be gone on 31 Dec! Like today!! There was a layer of coffee-soaked sponge amidst the many other layers of chocolate crepe and mascarpone cream. I liked that this was not too sweet. But somehow this cake didn’t hold as well as their other flavours normally do and so it was threatening to disintegrate multiple times while we were eating!
Fresh shucked Irish oysters served with smoked tomato granita. Wow WOW?? Didn’t know oysters could taste like that! First, the icy cold comes as a surprise in your mouth. Next, the sour and smoky tang of the granita hits you. Finally, as you chew down on the plump oyster, its fresh sweetness combines with the flavours of the slowly melting granita to leave you feeling refreshed and ready to start the rest of your meal!
Would highly recommend trying this as a starter!
The cut of the iberico pork chop was fantastic with a good balance of tender lean meat and melt-in-your-mouth fats. Paired with the apple sauce, I felt like my gastronomic experience with this one star Michelin restaurant was complete as its slightly sweet and sour tang cut the rich taste of the pork perfectly. The sautéed vegetables (tasted like kale but I’m honestly not super sure) were slightly bitter but offered colour and variety of flavours to this dish. I also learnt about the existence of kohlrabi (German turnip, the white and crunchy bulb-like vegetable) through this dish!
Nothing too fancy here, just a simple bowl of fish soup that is nonetheless my go-to every time I have cravings. The fish soup here just tastes naturally sweet and I think even completely MSG-less. The braised beancurd skin with taupok and egg is my fav here - every ingredient has been braised for a sufficiently long enough time that all the goodness from the sauce has been soaked up.
While there are other more famous fish soups at Bukit Timah hawker centre, this one run by a husband and wife power duo just tastes more homely!
We dabaoed this because we thought we weren’t gonna be able to finish this on top of the other stuff we had ordered but we were so wrong... This was TOO GOOD to not finish ASAP!!! Beyond just being sweet, the rojak sauce had the distinct shrimp paste taste that made it stand out from the regular rojaks around. It’s no wonder that there’s usually a long queue (they even set up some barricades to facilitate the queuing) but I was lucky to have been there in the late morning and there was no queue.
Only available for a limited time, this Christmas wrap really added a good festive cheer to the season! Filled with turkey ham cubes, juicy brussel sprouts, kale, sweet pumpkin, cranberries and raisins and tossed in a sauce (maybe cranberry cos it’s sweet and tangy), this wrap was sweet and savoury all at once without being too dry.
The wraps here at saladstop are packed until they are full and fat and I love that I can be full but no, not fat after eating them 😂
