๐ฃ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ผ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ is my best-kept food secret. ๐คซ
Seriously, where can you eat a proper oven-baked pizza with quality ingredients (not the lousy ones from commercial chains like you-know-what) for less than $20?! AND get a 1-for-1 promotion?
Iโve tried various pizzas from Pietro Ristorante Italiano, but my favourite is the unique ๐ฃ๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐($๐ฎ๐ฏ.๐ต๐ฌ), which comes topped with generous slices of honey-baked ham, creamy white feta cheese, a wreath of fresh rocket leaves and a glorious oozing sunny-side-up egg in the centre. (On the day I went, they were out of rocket leaves, so they substituted it with other greens.) Baked in a proper fire oven, the pizzaโs thin crust comes out unbelievably crispy, with a beautiful leopard mark char blistered on the golden brown exterior.
Simplyโ*chefโs kiss*. ๐
The pasta is also delicious. ๐ต๐ฌ), which is a seafood loverโs delight, with prawn, clams, squid, scallop, coated in a rich and creamy white wine sauce and sprinklings of reggiano cheese. My only gripe is that they could be more generous with the seafoodโthere was only one small prawn, and the scallop was missing.
Otherwise, Pietro Ristorante Italiano is truly my favourite Italian restaurant in Singapore, for its highly value-for-money 1-for-1 lunch promotions and delicious food. Highly recommended!

๐ฃ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ผ ๐๐ถ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ด๐ฒ is one of the popular stalls at Amoy Street Food Centre. In fact, theyโre so popular that they even have not one, but two stalls (one of which they use solely for storing their fish and ingredients).
Their ๐ฆ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐ฝ (๐บ๐ถ๐ป. $๐ญ๐ฌ) comes with slices of Batang fish as well as prawns. The soup is rich and savoury, infused with the flavour of the seafood. My gripe is that itโs pretty expensive, and the amount of ingredients you get does not match the steep price tag. The fish tend to come in small, thin slices, some of which have a slight greyish tinge and have an off-putting fishy flavour. A few even have bones, so you have to be careful when eating.
Compared to the other popular fish soup stall (Han Kee Fish Soup) at Amoy Street Food Centre, one is certainly more value for money than the otherโฆ

๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐ฝ is my number 1 sliced fish soup in Singapore.
The ๐ฆ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐ฝ ($๐ณ, ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐บ) has one of the clearest broths you will ever see, but donโt be mistakenโitโs full of sweetness and flavour. The generous chunks of thick Batang fish are creamy white in colour, and so fresh and soft.
Although the stall always attracts a long queue at lunch hour, itโs definitely worth the wait. Compared to the other popular fish soup stall (Piao Ji Fish Porridge) at Amoy Street Food Centre, one is certainly more value for money than the otherโฆ

Yong Huat, a 71-year old stall that sells the BEST Hokkien mee and fried mee suah in Singapore, is closing at the end of Aug 2020.
The ๐๐ผ๐ธ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฒ ($๐ฑ/๐ฒ/๐ด/๐ญ๐ฌ) is a MOUNTAIN of deliciousness. Uncle Weng Hong, who took over the stall from his father, is super generous with the ingredients, giving you a heaping plate of expertly-fried noodles with 4 whole prawns, chunks of crispy pork lard, pork belly, squid and egg.
The ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ต ($๐ฑ/๐ณ/๐ต) is astoundingly good. Every strand of vermicelli noodle is infused with an incredible wok hei flavour, and similar to the Hokkien mee, it comes with copious amounts of ingredients, from prawns to pork belly, pork slices, pork lard and fish cake and egg.
All the dishes come served with a fiery red sambal chilli, which is just the right balance of sweet and spice. Add a squeeze of calamansi lime for an extra sour dash of zing, and youโve got yourself a perfect meal.
I could eat 10 plates of the noodles if I had a stomach that was large enough.
Other than Hokkien mee and fried mee suah, they also serve ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ผ๐ ($๐ฑ/๐ฒ/๐ด), ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ป ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฒ ($๐ฑ/๐ฒ/๐ณ) and ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ๐ ($๐ฑ/๐ฒ/๐ณ), which are all incredibly tasty in their own right. Every dish at Yong Huat is flawless. If you want to try Yong Huatโs food, go down and show them some support before itโs too late!
