a plate of everything at Graze. not a buffet but a sampler breakfast platter that allows one to nibble without really eating everything. the toast was my fave, with its slightly grilled smokiness and earthy wheat flavour! #Graze #breakfastsamplerplatter #brunch #secretlifeoffatbacks #cafesg

From the get-go, the place resonated a medieval grandeur the moment I stepped in. It felt clean and modern and had the vibe of a downtown hipster bar. Feeling a little bloated from my previous meal, I was contented with just a cuppa iced chox. The beverage was smooth and velvety without being too creamy and sweet. What made it a little more special was the ice cubes in the drink that doesn't appear to melt very much over the course of ~30 mins, and this feature helped make the drink non-diluted. I heard that the brekkies might be quite good so I'll be back for more, subject to crowd issues. #commonmancoffeeroasters #icedchox #brunch #sgcafe #secretlifeoffatbacks

I had this on a day where I was feeling a little flu-ey so my taste buds were less than fully functional. Regardless, all 3 components on the plate - rosti, egg white omelette and toast were relatively decent. The star of the dish was ironically the toast; fluffy and buttery, it kinda took minimal chewing to melt in one's mouth. The omelette lacked a oomph factor and tasted like something I could make at home, and it was slightly undersalted and underpeppered. The rosti was alright, the slightly charred bits gave it a little more personality and crunch that was lacking throughout. All in all, the meal was perfunctory and quite pedestrian, but it Probably deserves a second chance. 3/5 #eggsandberries #brunch #eggsandrosti #western #secretlifeoffatbacks

A whole lotta peranakan in this dainty little piece of edible art. Sweet from the gula Melaka, richness from the avocado purée and pandan, and tart from the berries. It almost felt too pretty to eat! 3.75/5 #cafecara #stackup #dessert #foodart #secretlifeoffatbacks

One of them Cafes at tiong bahru, I was looking for something interesting to discern Flock from the rest. I ordered the French toast with maple and bacon, a standard item at most brunch places, and it was actually quite delish. The toast was thick, had an adequate amount of eggy-ness to accompany the sweet maple and savory bacon slices. While I generally prefer my bacon crispier, the bacon seemed to have rolled around in the honey for quite a bit, to give it the sweet aftertaste that kept me craving for more. The iced chox wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it was suitably pleasant and not overtly sweet, just as I liked it. It may be hard to carve a niche out for itself in this saturated cafe area of tiong bahru, but the food's decent and the price acceptable so I'm sure people, including myself will be back. 3.75/5 #flockcafe #frenchtoastwithbacon #icedchox #brunch #western #secretlifeoffatbacks

The other mt. Fuji I love. Lovely softserve and even lovelier puff pastry, flaky, warm, crispy and absolutely melts the ice cream in your mouth 4.75/5 #secretlifeoffatbacks #dessert #softserve #mountfuji #japanese #stmarccafe

Probably one of the closest Cafes to my home, the garden slug rarely disappoints. It has special themed food items during festive occasions eg. St Pats Day, Mid-autumn that makes visiting this place a more refreshing affair. The Nutella iced chox available here is DOPE. The sides and top of the glass were lined with ten kinds of decadence and sin, and scrapping off the Nutella and stirring it with the already rich iced chox gave it a rich hazelnut texture and a more wholesome experience. A different kind of standard for iced chox in my opinion. The smoked salmon omelette was fluffy and moist, but the crispy and buttery toast was definitely the star. The garden slug serves all-day breakfast so eating eggs and ham at 7pm while watching rabbits hopping about in the pet shop across road can be quite an exciting experience! 4/5 #thegardenslug #nutellaicedchocolate #icedchox #brunch #smokedsalmonomelette #secretlifeoffatbacks

I have to admit visiting group therapy was not my first choice; I was forced to settle due to the lack of seats over at the plain or d.o.c. Its price was slightly on the high side, but gosh they sure made it worth my every cent when the food was served. The portions were ginormous and I was honestly struggling to finish my grilled ham and cheese. This sandwich wasn't anything atypical, but it was made to taste amazing. The cheese melts, the ham taste lingers in a good way and the bread was soft and fluffy to the bite. Speaking of fluff, the eggs were all sorts of delectable especially with the dusting of black pepper and salt. Bright yellow things in the morning does put one in a good mood! The Mint iced chox reminded me of a less sweet version of the christmas specialty drinks at Starbucks and coffee bean, thus it didn't make me feel half as sinful drinking it. All in all, a scrumptious breakfast that looked ordinary but tasted far from it. 4/5 #grouptherapycafe #grilledhamandcheese #scrambledeggs #minticedchocolate #icedchox #brunch #secretlifeoffatbacks

Who knew that apart from pies, windowsill had savouries as well? This came highly recommended - an atas version of the pork belly bun. Essentially it was a generous slab of well prepared pork belly placed within a deep fried mantou bun (the kind you dip into your chilli crab sauce), accompanied by crackling pork skin, dulce de leche, and the richness of the milk jam to top it off. Certainly it was all sorts of sinful, but at least it was nothing short of amazing. One bun and one pie and my appetite and calorie count is done for the day. 4.25/5 #fortnightsg #windowsillpies #kongbakpau #dessert #secretlifeoffatbacks

This place needs no introduction. The pies are generally divine, and my favourite is definitely the grasshopper pie. The pie crust has the flakiness of a puff pastry and richness and crunchyness of a butter cookie which was unlike any I have tasted. The mint and chocolate combo was smooth, sleek, velvety and cool; it was definitely a show stopper. On a related note, I want a birthday tart as my birthday cake next year! 4.75/5 #windowsillpies #grasshopperpie #dessert #secretlifeoffatbacks
