Layers of lentils, mushrooms, soy mince slathered in cashew cheese sauce. With a side of garden salad to lighten and refresh the meal. No comparison made to mainstream lasagna it’s so delicious as a dish of its own!
Was amazed to see the selection of breads and dips at Pita Bakery. Everything is made fresh from scratch in store. They even have an overnight crew to knead the bread for the next day! I had the Free Fill Bread which included a generous serving of chopped vegetables and the filled with the most tasty, crispy falefels. It was so delicious especially with the side of Babaganoush (egg plant dip) that brought it all together. I really need to go back ASAP and try the sesame/za’atar/ ras bread and the other dips ahhhh
Shroom Burger >>> SmokeShack. No green biasses here. Trust me, I was as shook 😯.
I’m more of an in&out gal but given all the buzz I decided to give Shake Shack another shot. Boy was I disappointed. The patty did not manage to hit all the basic notes — it was dry, not that tasty... I’d probably scoot to McDonald’s given its price points too 🍔.
HOWEVER the crisp-fried portobello mushroom... with cheddar cheese... oooooof 🤤. It had the perfect thickness of batter, the juiciest meatiest portobello, with some sauce/seasoning that made it incredibly tasty. 💯% would recommend skipping the overhyped classic burger for what you’d not find at most fast food joints.
Veggies are the new “fetch”. At Joie, an assortment of vegetables are beautifully plated and carefully crafted to create an exciting 6 course set lunch menu.
Started off with a cup of cheese sticks that much resembled raw spaghetti 🍝 to munch on while we waited for the other dishes 🤓. We were then told to cleanse our palettes with a shot of their refreshing juice nestled in a bed of crushed ice * boujEee* 🥃.
Petit Fours included faux sashimi (not a fan of actual raw fish so this was great), a very random cracker and a droplet bursting with pomegranate juice YUM!
Made the idiot decision of ordering Charcoal Coated Tempura — super uninteresting, should’ve gone with the Baby Root on truffled mash. Had AN AMAZING bowl of mushroom soup but it was SO tiny 😞
Had the Gnocchi which had mushroom sauce poured over. Pretty good. My friend had the Duo Ravioli platter which was delicious too. I want to lament about the portion but I have to remind myself that this is “fine dining” 😂.
Went with the Red Wine Poach Pear with Lime Sorbet (tad too sour) which I thought could’ve been presented better... pear 🍐 looks bludgeoned to death. Drinks were super average tending to diabetically bad. Could barely finish my Hawaiian Blue mocktail aka my blue artificial colouring and syrup water.
Hoping for more consistent quality throughout the courses. Would still come back to try their other creative takes and for the tranquil view of the Orchard Central rooftop garden (MUST ask for the seat with the view!!!). Joie is perfect for occasions and heading towards that meat-free lifestyle 🌳 🙌🙌🙌
Appetiser: 🦀 Crab Salad with guacamole and celeriac. A tad too fishy for my palate (which could’ve been rectified by a drizzle of citrus 🍋 ). The plating had potential to be prettier and more balanced in colour.
The dish I was most looking forward to was the Tomato Impossible Meat. Described as “vegetable ratatouille”, I imagined petals of finely sliced squashes nearly arranged. Unfortunately, my childhood Pixar dreams did not come to life that day. Yet I must say that the 🍅 impossible-stuffed roasted tomato was quite clever and wholesome 😋
The other main we had was the Oven Baked Sea Bass. Not the biggest fan of the lentils ragout base as it blended with the fish flesh as a bunch of mush.
Desserts: 🍮 the Creme Brûlée was nothing to shout about but boy was it ginormous! Wished they served a smaller portion and got more creative with this...
🍰 the Mille-Feuille generously filled with vanilla creme was delicious 😋 but also had the tendency to be gelat towards the end.
Walking below the grand chandeliers strung from high ceilings and past the opulent decor studding the light flooded interior, I expected to be seriously blown away by some exquisite French cuisine that day. While the Brasserie les Saveurs gets 💯 for ambiance, food was good but not amazing.
A very popular lunch spot in the heart of the CBD, pho 99 serves one of the best pho in Singapore. With tender and flavour packed assorted beef cuts, fresh aromatics on the side and a rich broth, it’s comfort in a bowl! Wish the noodles were more al dante, texture was more like kuay teow than pho...
We started off on a pretty positive note with the Crabmeat 🦀 Croquette ($8). My only qualm is that the addition of coconut in the fritter wasn’t the best complement.
The Grilled Squid 🦑($18) was quite tough but still tasty. However the onion rice 🍚 that stuffed inside the squid was really mushy.
Spotlight on the signature main course — Sophia’s Risotto 🥘 (with crabmeat, coconut, chilli, mackerel). I don’t know if the chef made a mistake in our plate or if this is a disastrously planned concoction 🥴 . Seeing from the other negative reviews online, I believe it’s the latter... 😞 The coconut milk was too overpowering and weighs the already starchy dish down. Most horrifyingly.... there were pockets of rice with a really fishy 🐟 .. almost bloody taste 🤢 #SOS
Lastly, dessert featured a Lemon Tart topped with sorbet, mint leaves 🍃, raspberries and shards of rose flavoured Meringue. 💯 on presentation but theres room for improvement in the taste department...
Overall, I’m disappointed and shocked that we paid so much $$$ for food that should’ve been MUCH better (it’s under the Saveur group!)

Elixir Boutique Cafe is a sleek brunch spot in the day that transforms into the swanky Fat Belly in the night. With it’s picturesque thick toasts and specialty beans, we were thrilled to try their breakfast menu.
Truffle Eggs Prosciutto($22). These eggs were so silky and fluffy at the same time 😻. A rather generous serving of prosciutto too 🥪!
The brioche toast 🍞however was not as soft and layered as we expected it to be. It had more of a dry, crumbly texture and the sides were quite hard 😞 Considering that this was the base of the dish and there are so many artisan bakeries in the area, we wished for better toast!
Next, the Smoked Eringil Mushrooms & Ricotta ($15) was a well thought out combination of the sweet and savoury. The pellets of pomegranate, bursting with juices, brought out the sweetness of the fresh ricotta — which was soo soft and creamy. The ingredients, from the garnishes to the cheese, were all sooo fresh 🍅.
Will need to come back to try the other items... With the Burple 1-for-1, this is a #worthit brunch spot!
Delicious cocktails with an amazing view of the Singapore skyline. MUST COME AT SUNSET to maximise your visit! $25++ each.

Sooo delicious. Always been a huge fan of YTF and this is one of the best I’ve had! The soup had NO MSG and you can taste the sweetness of the soybeans.
Wide selection of toppings too! Loved the $2 Chee Cheong Fun add on with my hearty bowl of YTF.
