📍Jin Hua sliced fish bee hoon stall at maxwell
This is my second time eating Jin Hua’s fis soup although my original intention was to try other stalls. But sadly all the other stalls that i wanted to try were still closed / not sure why they were closed for the day of my visit. This shop only starts operation at 11am. Even though a few customers enquired at 1050am+ they refused to start serving till it was almost 11am. When they officially started operation, it took quite a while for the queue to move as they took about 10mins for 2 order as there was only one person taking orders and prepping cooking the ingredients. (Other person was still busy slicing fish and frying fish). The long line of queue soon formed minutes after 11am.
My typical order here is the fried fish thick beehoon soup with added milk (small howl for $4.50). Super love the XO taste in the soup and fried fish went super well with their chilli sauce mix which interestingly had both red and green chillies!
Small bowl has about 4 slices of fried fish, but enough for me since there is so many other good food to try at Maxwell too!

Yam ang ku kueh ($1.10 each) from jixiang everton! Had initially wanted to get the coconut angkukueh as well but it was already sold out at 12noon! Heard that one can reserve the kuehs before going down, so do call ahead to reserve if you wish to get your desired akk/buying in bulk!
Between this and poh cheu, i still prefer poh cheu’s akk though for the simple reason that jixiang’s yam akk isnt pure yam but mixed with mung beans and i really dislike mungbeans haha!
But it still makes a good secondary substitute when im at outram park area and just craving some quality soft chewy angkukuehs

📍Xing Xing Ondeh Ondeh # 01-31 from maxwell hawker
Have been wanting to try the ondeh ondeh and the steamed tapioca from Xing Xing for the longest time since 2015! But everytime when i reach during weekday 12+ lunch hour it would have closed or was sold out. And most of my other visits to maxwell are only at dinner hours.
Thought i will have luck this time but nope they arent selling ondeh ondeh and steamed tapioca cake until 2 weeks from now (me has no idea why)!
Ended up getting the baked tapioca ($1 for a single piece). It isnt something which i like and it felt too heavy/dense for me.
Shall try again at my next visit and hope i will have bettee luck the next time!
(Side PSA: taste of jiang nan, the famous dintaifung style porkchop fried rice is closed now. Paper notice at the stall indicates “有事回国” so no need to go down to find the stall anytime soon! )

I am always craving for western food whenever i am at old airport hawker. But every single time holy grill is sold out or closed by the time i reach. This time round, i retried london grill’s western food. Used to eat this quite often when i was a kid!
But first impression: huh plate so big portion so small? And uhh where is my bread again!! Photo on stall front included bread but what was served doesnt include bread yet again bleahs. Also, the fish and chip wasn’t the breaded crust fish and chips that i was craving for and turned out to be this kind. Fries were just normal fried fries. And i dont eat the other two side dishes of salad and baked beans. That is why i prefer western food stalls where i can customise my sides!
While the chicken chop and fried fish fillet itself was okay and much better than the chicken chop i had at western barbeque stall 01-53, the portion was just too small!

Changi Famous Nasi Lemak!
Have been to changi village hawkwer many times but have yet to try out all the nasi lemak stalls there.
On the last changi village expedition to get nasi lemak, we wanted to try from the international muslim stall but it was closed. So we settled for mizzy corner. This round of attempt for international muslim failed again (btw is the stall still even in operation now?) and we settled for the next contestant - Changi Famous Nasi Lemak!
Ended up being very satisfied with it. Rice portion was so muchhh and it was very fragrant! Sambal chilli sauce also complemented the nasi lemak rice well. Chicken wings were also juicy. Ticked off all the boxes on my checklist. Plus it was so affordable. Ordered ala carte to get chicken wing, otah and begedil and it was $4.50! Much cheaper than punggol nasi lemak for sure!!

Ice cream!! Finally dropped by to check out @creme_and_cone at lau pa sat @foodfolks.sg !
Tried the lychee raspberry and grapefruit strawberry sorbet flavours! Got the cup instead of cone as I didn't fancy messy ice cream cone eating. Choosed the lychee raspberry, which is my top 2 favourite flavour choices (besides pistachio). But this version was more creamy and heavy than I expected. Quite like the grapefruit strawberry sorbet though! Interesting choice of grapefruit ingredient which I don't often see much elsewhere. The sorbet was also not too sour. However, both scoops melted way too fast even though the weather was not super hot? It was the first time ever that i had to finish up the last scoops of ice cream by drinking it up haha.
But with that said, lots of flavours to choose from, and it is 1 for 1 with burpplebeyond! Plus there are proper table and chair seatings right beside at the laupasat hawker centre for diners who are not fully vaccinated.
