📍Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hoon Restaurant

Dined here once super long ago when I was a kid. But I still had fond memories of this place. This is how good the XO fish beehoon soup is! The XO soup was so fragrant! (Do note there is no soup refill allowed haha) I super love fish slice soup because no bones! So much easier to eat. Fish slices were fresh too!

For a 4 pax portion, the fish beehoon soup costs $20. We also got a plate of prawn roll (medium size, $16) to go along with the meal. But it was quite funny that they only had sweet spy sauce to go along with the ngor hiang and didn't have the sambal belachan kind of chilli or the other typical kind of sweet sauce you will expect for prawn roll ngor hiang

📍Lagoon famous carrot cake stall

But they are more famous for their popiah. Tried it for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It is good. Better than qiji's popiah! This shall now be my favourite popiah from now on! I like how the oooiah's sweet sauce was not overly sweet (qiji's one is vvv sweet), and was also surprising to find some fake crabmeat balls in the popiah! I haven't eaten any popiah elsewhere where there is crabmeat balls in them! Be sure to opt for the chilli version as the spicy chilli gave it a v good spicy kick! Will order again for future visits to this hawker!

Have been eyeing puffs & peaks bakery donuts for the longest time! But ended up trying the cookies ($3.70 each) this time round

🍪classic brookies: the very signature cookie with the half dark cocoa and half regular chip cookie with Valrhona dark chocolate. Brookies are essentially a cross between brownie and cookies! I love how it is crispy crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside (especially when I heat it up before eating)

🍪earl grey dulcey: earl grey cookie studded with caramel varlhona chips. The earl grey tea taste was strong and the flavour was very pleasant (when I don’t normally like drinking earl grey tea by itself)

Will be back again to try the donuts!

New City Donut outlet at novena velocity mall! (Taking over workspace espresso bar previous outlet location)

Read reviews before heading down and decided to try the orh nee yam ($2.6). Thought it was quite a pricey $2.6 donuts. But then again it is the same price as Krispy kreme original donuts, but this has fillings in the middle. I thought it was quite interesting to eat a donut with fillings in the middle rather than a sugar glaze coated top with fillings on the top. However, I found this donut was slightly not sweet at all, such that it didn’t feel like I was eating a donut but a yam bread instead? 😅 will be back again to try the other flavours before I confirm my verdict for city donut 😉

Second time back at dumpling darlings and I still absolutely love their food, especially the fried pierogi dumplings!

The first time we got our dumplings to takeaway to eat at amoy hawker (because super long queue without reservations). This time round we called up the circular road outlet many weeks in advance to make our reservation!

Got the lunch sets (which is also available on weekends!) which comes with your choice of noodle, dumplings (3 pieces) and a drink!

🥟fried pierogi - super love this! Carbonara style dumplings that is filled with smoked bacon, truffle potato and cream sauce!

🥟smoked duck dumplings - heh got the exact same two dumplings as the previous round (initially wanted to try the Sichuan dumpling but was told it wasn't the fried type of dumplings. The other fried type of dumpling was either the original (which was cheaper lol) or the veggie (and I dislike eating veggie)). But between the two I still prefer the fried pierogi!

🍜sichuan pork noodle - this turned out to be my favourite noodle out of the two! Not super spicy. Plenty of minced meat given! Qq bouncy noodles

🍜miso mushroom noodle - mushroom overload here. Haha I got quite sick of the mushrooms after a while

🍹grapefruit thyme green tea - my favourite! Super refreshing!

🍹longan osmanthus pu era - urn this tastes too healthy to me hehe

👉🏻baklava (3pcs for $12+): we were joking how the portions were so small and that the 3 pieces were actually just one and we should get 2 more lol. But with that said, one mini bite portion is actually v heavy. It is essentially pastry filled with chopped nuts and drenched in sweetened syrup

👉🏻Turkish black tea / Turkish apple tea (a pot for $12+): what a small pot!! Tea appreciation indeed. Tried the black tea and added some sugar before I could appreciate it ☺️
