Margherita Pretty great place when you need something to snack on in the Park. Outdoor seating has fans, the place is quite cosy and tidy. Overall, great!

Dim Sum Get teleported to Hong Kong when you visit Red Star Restaurant. Enjoy the 1980s push cart dim sum dining experience, which is uncommon nowadays. The food quality of the dim sum items was somewhat inconsistent. There were some hits and misses. However, the roasted duck ($16 for half) is unexpectedly delicious - crispy skin on the tender and moist meat that has almost no gamey taste. It was so good that we had to request a bowl of white rice. 😘 Ultimately, the fun was trying to catch the push cart auntie's attention or learn to "zap sang" (Cantonese term) - if she doesn't come to you, just go to her and get your dim sum! 🤣

Dill Butter Roasted Chilean Sea Bass With truffled dauphinoise potato, tiger prawn ragout, medley of charred garden vegetables, ikura. Chef's kiss. The cod was everything you expect cod to be. It's probably my first time encountering dauphinoise and it's brilliant.

Blue Swimmer Crab Bisque Three kinds of crab here. The crab medallion, a sliver of crabmeat, and the soup. Topped with kombu. Flawless.

Complimentary Bread Both weren't the best - one was sourdough or rye and one was too sesame - but still enjoyable enough for us to order many!

Hyped up, expensive & disappointing Pop by on Friday evening, expecting the place to be busy. Except it’s not. The huge restaurant was really empty. There were only 2 other table + us. After reading the reviews, we decided to pick something different. We used one of the 1–1 deal for the Babi pongteh and Sambal kangkong plus the ikan on its own. The rice is free flow, you can pick between the blue pea rice $2 or the plain rice. You can’t just order one plate to share. There were reviews mentioning it smells super fragrant, however to me it’s just lumpy rice with uneven colour, definitely not fresh out of the pot kind of fluffy rice. We had Chinese tea, it came in a pot. Refillable too. The server was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was.. quiet. Obviously. Lol. Straits Chinese nonya restaurant also uses 2 robots to deliver the food from the kitchen. Pretty entertaining to hear the cheery music and watch it goes back and forth while avoiding bumping into anything/anyone. Overall, will I go back again? No. I don’t think I will.

Durian pengat - huge disappointment The kuey was complimentary, in fact, the kuey tasted so much better than the durian pengat… 😒 The first thing that catches your attention with durian should be the aroma, however when I place this under my nose.. I couldn’t smell any distinctive durian smell.. I don’t know how long it was prepared and kept in the fridge hence that’s why there is no durian smell? The taste itself is bland, you can feel the texture of the pulp and it’s not sweet. Overall, I would say save your money and calories on this tiny shot glass dessert.

Sambal kang kong Imo, this was the best dish among what we ate. The rempah from the Sambal was good but it could be spicier (it’s the equivalent of eating Mala but you asked for very xiao la). The veg was crunchy and refreshing and goes well with the rice.

Fried Fat Intestine($13.80) Every visit, sure got order this dish. It's one of their best dish ever. So fatty, chewy, savoury and sinful. But don't overeat, else it became jelak. The  crunchy chilli helps to give a change to palate.

Fried Tofu($9) Soft and silky tofu with fried skin, drenched in savoury sauce.

Fried Dou Miao($7.80) Need to have some greens. The simple aromatic stir fry with garlic style give the vegetables its best natural taste.

Waygu Nikomi Onsen Tamago Don The Public Izakaya is definitely a great place to wind down for dinner, especially since it's located in Tanjong Pagar. We visited during lunch hours and they offer a lunch set that is simply fantastic. I can already picture myself chilling there with friends after work. Their oden is incredibly flavorful; you can tell it's been slow-cooked for hours yet remains delightfully bouncy. For the lunch set, they offer a variety of rice bowls. I opted for the Wagyu Nikomi Onsen Tamago Don, featuring Wagyu beef in cube style—it was truly delicious. I particularly enjoyed how well the thick brown sauce complemented the onsen egg and rice. Crispy Fried Chicken | $17+ literally what the title says, it was really crispy. adequately coated with a golden batter, it was the perfect balance of crisp to tender chicken ratio. i enjoyed it the most with a dip of that creamy mayonnaise! will reorder this or get the karaage that i’ve seen people ordering.

Omakase Oden Set (6pcs) | $22+ the best part of oden - hot piping soup, where you’ll taste hints of sweetness from the dashi stock, and that savoury note once you let it linger a little longer in the mouth. i’d get a refill if i could. out of all the ingredients (all tasted good by the way), my favourite was definitely the daikon. such a simple ingredient, yet made so well. it was the just right softness, not too mushy yet not too hard. the best part of it all, was that in a single bite of the daikon, you’ll get the soup too as it has absorbed all of the dashi stock.

No. 4 Galette ($19++) Served with ham, egg, sauteed mushrooms and cheese. There was no sauce so it was abit dry. I was expecting a crispy crepe but the crepe was doughy. It was slightly bitter. The portion is quite filling.

Galettes we went with no.4 Chiffonade of ham, organic egg sunny side up, over sautéed mushrooms, Comté cheese and no.7 French pork sausage, onion confit marinated in 23 cider, old style mustard cream, comte cheese. i enjoyed the pork sausage galette more as i’m not a huge fan of mushrooms.

Lovely cafe with good food First time we tried the famed Galettes and while we didn't love it, it was definitely top notch in terms of taste and quality. Had the No. 3 (Sauteed mushrooms with Comte cheese and a sunny side up, $18) and the No. 8 (Pork pancetta carbonara style with spinach, onions, and sunny side up, $19). Preferred No. 8 as the carbonara sauce gave more flavour to the Galette. As you get to the sides of the Galette though, you just have more of the plain buckwheat flour taste, so do leave some of the fillings for the sides!

Overly greasy burger Even if this was a cafe and I got the meal for takeaway, I really cannot smooth over the sheer disappointment I had while struggling through the Signature Classic Barn Burger ($19.50+). My main gripe was that the bottom of the burger was completely soaked in grease! The base bread was all limp and soggy, and I couldn't get a bite in without the lettuce and patty all slipping out. - everything was just falling apart! And this was only about 5min after I collected the package and walked across the street to Timbre+ to have my meal. Simply terrible experience.

Wonderful fresh sandwiches! If you work around the One North area, this is one good lunch alternative to go to! I have tried a variety of their sandwiches and quesadillas before and they were all pretty delightful! The smoked salmon sandwich ($12) came with a rather substantial amount of smoked salmon pieces, fresh vegetables and a very refreshing dressing within. Though the bread itself can be a little tough, you know its quality bread. Love how fresh tasting the sandwich was! They gave a good handful of chips that may be a little too salty, but they were still addictive. There is a small amount of coleslaw by the side too which was made fresh in house! Will be back to try their pastas and burgers 😍

Very chill cafe A quiet cafe for you to have lunch and chill out. My meatball linguine was good except that I wished the pasta was more al dente. Prices were reasonable for the portion.

Afternoon tea set Upscale casual restaurant that celebrates Southeast Asian flavours and crossroads. Starting with savory, we enjoyed the 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰/ 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐫, an indulgent buttery and creamy bite. The 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐠𝐠 was a mix of rendang with oozy egg and a crispy breading. Rich and flavourful with a strong spicy kick. The 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡 𝐏𝐢𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐞 was generously packed and balanced but did wish for the shell to be more crisp. Moving on to sweet, 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐣𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞 & 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞 was a delightful sweet and savory mix of feta cheese and date encased in crispy and flaky pastry. Our personal favourite was the mango sticky rice. Also had the classic traditional kuehs of 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭 and 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡 𝐊𝐨 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞. Comes with free flow tea or coffee.
