This was really earthy and bitter, but not the umami kind. Their matcha is unsweetened by default and the matcha sure packed a punch, so it may not be for everyone! 🫡

While we didn’t catch the promo in time, but we’re glad that this spring themed strawberry matcha is now a permanent item (albeit with limited quantities per day) 🙌🏻🍓

The ambience at Spring Coffee was lovely, and the wood furnished space was cozy and calming with a rustic charm. It was a rainy day when we went - and everyone was huddled indoors, watercolouring, crocheting, catching up with friends or getting their work done. Do note that and their prices are nett 🤩!! and that plugs are not available. We would love to come back and try their coffee ☕️

We were first drawn to Hey Slow Joe because of their striking and bubbly laid-back electric blue logo. Something about it was just so pleasing to look at, and so they were on our to-visit the list for the longest! The place is small and cozy, with about 8 indoor seats, and 2 camping chairs outside. An industrial themed interior with low cove lights and a sleek faema e71 blending seamlessly into the cool tones. A glass display of their bites had the daily specials penned on the outside. The variety of drinks and bites here were aplenty and we found it hard to choose, so we went with what was most familiar.

Rich, roasty and milky with the perfect amount of sweetness. A hojicha done right and delivered a caffeine boost through the afternoon.

A loaf that wraps you like a warm hug, this was moist and soft, with scattered walnuts and chunks of banana. Not too sweet, always our go to for afternoon tea, and we’d most probably get it again.

Heyslowjoe was whatever we expected and more. The barista (we were too shy to ask for her name) was incredibly kind and gentle and we never felt rushed. Time just seemed to slow down and there was an inexplicable serenity sitting there. And for an afternoon, we could put our lives on pause. We wholeheartedly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back for these vibes!

Forget steamboat, the prawn claypot trend is all the rage now and we’re here at the soft launch of 𝗛𝗮𝗲! 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗽𝗼𝘁 🦐🍲. To set themselves apart, they use HUGE and juicy 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻𝘀 and sell deliciously cooked items like chicken wings and prawn rolls!
.
They aren’t kidding when they say that their 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵 ($𝟮𝟴.𝟴𝟬) is concentrated! 🤩 It was gao and brimming with prawn flavour (just look at that orange brown colour) 🤎🧡 They have 50 ingredients on their menu and and items we ordered were all really fresh. They’re supported by ytf 老字号 @bainiansg so you know their ytf items are good! 👍🏻 We highly recommend their 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬), 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬), 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 ($𝟲.𝟴𝟬) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 ($𝟴.𝟴𝟬-𝟵.𝟴𝟬) 🙌🏻

We highly recommend getting your greens intake with their 𝗪𝗮 𝗪𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗶 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬) and 𝗫𝗶𝗮𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗶 𝗖𝗮𝗶 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬). Fresh and cleanly prepared, the vegetables were the stars at absorbing the essence of the broth. You can round up your meal with instant noodles, vermicelli, or rice because it only gets better with carbs hehe. There was also a plethora of sauces to choose from, with their homemade chilli sauce standing out for us!

We are sure you’ve seen the VIRAL claypot prawns hotpot going around on social media, and we just had to give it a try at @woodlandsclaypotprawn 🤩🤩
.
The 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵 ($𝟯𝟮.𝟴𝟬) gets you 12 plump and juicy fresh prawns along with a flavourful and peppery broth. You can spruce up your meal with a plethora of classic hotpot side dishes too!
.
We couldn’t pass on their 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 ($𝟴.𝟴𝟬), 𝗛𝗼𝗸𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬) and 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬). If you’re here with a group, you can top up with 5 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻𝘀 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬).

Honestly, was a bit disappointed. The scallops didn’t taste fresh. And there wasn’t enough sauce to flavour the rice (unless you count soy sauce)

Lola’s Cafe has to be our favourite 🫶🏻 neighbourhood cafe, and they’ve recently opened their third and newest outlet in Tampines Mall! Featuring a scandinavian minimalist interior spanning TWO storeys, neutral earthy tones, and floor to ceiling windows, us easties were SO excited for their opening! 🙌🏻

Over in the East, the folks at Lola’s created a slightly different rendition of this dish from their Kovan outlet: they switched out the bacon and pork sausage for a chicken kielbasa one, and added an avocado salsa spread on their sourdough. These, combined with the creamy scrambled eggs and tater tots made for a perfect breakfast! 🤩
