Just as tasty!
We also had an Impossible Burger from Omakase Burger, and ended up too full for my Greek yoghurt from Supergreek.
I usually love it but this experience was pretty meh. No real reason why I wasn't feeling it. It was just ... zzzzzzzzz. ⠀
Hopefully my next experience will be a better one.song
⠀
Any moment I expect to see Maggie Cheung in a cheongsum making coffee. ⠀
But instead of Maggie, it is the uncle in his signature pajamas bottom.⠀
To get the butter coffee, you got to let them know. Don't specify and you'll get the ordinary one. ⠀
The kaya butter toast was nice enough, although I was not blown away.⠀
Still, the atmosphere makes up for it. Now, are you in the mood for kopi?
And of course since it is Orchard Road, this is a gourmet chicken version with corn-fed ‘kampong’ chicken, Thai jasmine rice, aromatic ‘Bentong’ ginger and an addictive homemade chilli sauce that is shiok AF.⠀
There is a mix of Hainanese and Cantonese when it comes to preparing the chicken: The bird is poached in boiling⠀
water until cooked, then immersed in an ice water bath. The result is a juicy chicken with divine and plump skin.⠀
it's not cheap (prices start at $14.90 for a one person set) but it is such a treat! ⠀
Maybe that's how the French likes it? ⠀
And it's my first time to try the kway teow soup. It was not bad but probably not worth waiting 30 mins for. (And this is for a off-peak, nobody in the queue type situation)⠀
To be fair, the dumplings and the pork liver are astonishingly tasty. They probably won Tai Hwa its star.
Makes me happy to see young people giving feeding us a go.
One of these is Dry Ban Mian.
If you're looking for vegetarian ban mian, head there, The shop name is unimaginative but the truffle noodles certainly fires up the imagination.
I like the mushrooms, the hint of truffle, and when you add a few splashes of vinegar, the dish perks up. The egg adds creaminess but it can also be cloying, so go without if you prefer a brighter feel.
Such a delightful experience! ⠀
The Joo Chiat Road burger joint only sells a few items and you'll be tempted to try all. so walk off the food by exploring the hood. there's so much to see.
Tastes as good as it looks, although it was more subtle in flavours that the visuals would suggest.⠀
On the other hand, the Duck Confit with house made tagliatelle was a blast, with bits of hazelnut for texture.⠀
The restaurant is a gem in a quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes up a gentle slope from Kembangan MRT. Good service and cosy decor too.⠀
⠀
This is the Sixties Fish Head Charcoal Steamboat from Lai Bao at Blk 168 Toa Payoh Lor 1, and it's as tasty as it is comforting.⠀
What I liked best was that I didn't get that numb tongue feeling when I was done with this.⠀
Drop by if you're in the area (it's between Toa Payoh and Braddell MRT stations), they have other stuff you might be keen on too. I'll be writing about it soon, so FYI!
The chicken rice from Lee Fun Nam Kee was actually quite nice! The roast pork is very good, but I would give the char siew a miss.
