And it was just a steps away from the hotel!
Anyway, the nasi lemak wasnāt the only star at Sri Weld Food Court on Beach Street. The kuay teow soup and char kuay Teow were good too.
PS: Go about 10am because the morning rush is done and itās quiet before the lunch madness.
Just find a table, join the queue, choose chicken, beef or mutton (chicken for us), and wait.
The meal cost us RM$16.40, for (prata + teh tarik) X 2.
There was fresh onions, a slice of cheese, two different types of curries, chopped up prata, the combination resulted in a multi-textural and flavoured dish. Very appealing.
PS: teh tarik was nice but I asked for no sugar, which was ignored. Same thing at another place yesterday. Maybe penang is a yes sugar state!
And even more surprising, I found a full-flavoured mutton briyani from Al-Hossain. They have a tulang masala, but it was not available today so I Guess I have to return to try it!
PS: totally non keto friendly Lunch but what to do, briyani beckons.
But thatās not even the most memorable.
On the way there, the grab driver reminded us to try the fried chicken but it was the roast pork that was WOW! Crispy skin, juicy meat, and Just the right amount of fats. I would return just for it!
The one at Cathay Restaurant is highly recommended. The noodles are slightly al dente with the right amount of meat sauce to coat it. The fried meat pieces had some misses but was mostly delicious. The Kopi c kosong is also damn shioks!! There are other more famous and popular stalls but I do recommend you try this if you can.
PS: Google map was not helpful with this listing. So when youāre booking a ride there, indicate itās opposite the Osbourne Apartments. Itās next to an AirAsia office.
The pistachio cake, the tea cake, and onde onde gelato are yums!
And all that for $5 at Don Signature Crab.
Servers may need a bit of tack, and not cough with mouth open near customersā food, but ok, you get what you pay for.
Didnāt plan it but Glad that Iām on track for frugality in 2020.
I love the salty/spicy combo of the batter. There isnāt much meat on the wings but itās just enough. The wings are incredibly addictive. I can finish it all in minutes!
And it was the first time I tried the wanton soup there too. Turns out better than expected too, with a flavourful soup and an above average dumpling.
And I had both.
Whatās worse - it is your one rare prata meal.
Al-Azhar, what happened?? You used to be my go to! Service is bad, itās overpriced for room temperature prata, and you donāt even care when I asked for no straw!
Iām just going to pretend this meal didnāt happen.
Bah humbug š¤¬š¤ā¹ļø
The rice is new to me, and I doubt if Iāll order it again, but the omelette is as good as always!
Tomorrow (or maybe tonight), prata!!
Itās hard not to love the delightfully tart Pla Krapong Nuengmanao (steamed sea bass with lime and chilli sauce), a classic dish that is done simply but effectively.
