Was going around Marina Square and got to learn about the existence of Capturo Coffee Stand — these folks have been sharing their home barista journey on Instagram prior to them setting up as a physical business, with their location being situated within the premises of The Vermillion House at Marina Square. Taking up just one small corner of the counter space at The Vermillion House, Capturo Coffee Stand only occupies the space at the counter that faces outwards towards the shopping mall’s aisles. Operating only between Tuesday to Sunday between 10am to 5pm, patrons of Capturo Coffee Stand are free to take a seat within The Vermillion House should they choose to dine-in and if there are available tables around; with that being said, there are only three (3) counter seats that faces the area of the counter which Capturo Coffee Stand takes up. Being a coffee stand, the emphasis at Capturo Coffee Stand would be on their specialty coffee offerings which includes items sectioned into categories such as Coffee and Alcohol, as well as Non-Coffee and Tea, while the only cake offering that differs from what The Vermillion House serves up would be the Coconut Pandan Soft Cake (Ondeh-Ondeh).

Capturo Coffee Stand describes their Coconut Pandan Soft Cake (Ondeh-Ondeh) to come with elements such as Pandan extract, shredded coconut, house-made mixed cream, and Gula Melaka. Whilst the cake did cone in a size that we would often find intimidating largely due to the height it came in, we did find that the Coconut Pandan Soft Cake (Ondeh-Ondeh) to be fairly easy to be had. For one, we did like how the mixed cream was fairly light, fluffy and not too greasy nor creamy — this provides sufficient moisture to the cake without causing the cake to feel overly sweet nor jelak. As we go deeper into the cake, the texture of the Pandan-infused soft cake layer was actually pretty soft and fluffy; provided a consistency mouthfeel to the mixed cream that created a rather uniformed texture throughout the cake — this was pretty much almost akin to that of a pandan chiffon cake, while the cake itself also carried a rather soft hint of pandan fragrance that runs throughout the cake layers. The mixed cream layers in between the cake does come mixed with a little bit of Gula Melaka; this adds a slight hint of earthy sweetness not just to the cream but also the shredded coconut bits hidden within — brings that Ondeh Ondeh-esque vibes to the cake just like how its namesake promises it to be. The only qualm we have about the cake was the slight clumpiness of the frosting around the sides; possibly from the shredded coconut especially since the cake was stored for an extensive period of time in the display case which might have affected the overall texture a little.
