Ma Maison serves yoshoku or Japanese-Western cuisine, and is our go-to spot for a slightly more atas dinner date (we are usually the Saizeriya sort of couple haha).
Yoshoku or western-influenced Japanese cooking features dishes that we usually find in a western restaurant. What makes it different is that the flavours in Yoshoku cuisine are usually more mellow and 'cleaner'.
Ma Maison's signature starter of escargot in garlic butter is a prime example. The garlic butter is light, smooth with a tinge of the spicy nutty flavour of garlic and serves to accentuate the mild salty taste of the snails. We love that the snail meat is firm, chewy and yet tender.
