It is rare to chance upon a hokkien mee that is cooked the dry style and it also happens to be my first time trying it. Usually the noodles come soaked in starchy sauce but the noodles at Hainan Hokkien Mee are like stir fried bee hoon and noodles.
The noodles were well seasoned and I like that it also retained some moisture. A decent amount of seafood is added for its price and the squid was especially delicious. I find the chilli on the side unique too, with what tasted like red onions in the blend. The spiciness felt harmless at first but slowly sets in towards the end. In general, a pretty good hokkien mee!
