I’m a sucker for both pastries and dessert, so when this stacked baby arrived on my table, I couldn’t stop myself from drooling 🤤 The filo pastry was crumbly and flaky, sandwiching a very sweet and deliciously dense middle layer of walnuts and almonds! However, I didn’t really like the syrup which saturated the base of the baklava: it overwhelmed the other layers with a strong punch of cinnamon and cloves, which became rather sickening after a while. Nevertheless, I understand that the mastermind behind it all is still tweaking the recipe, so I’m looking forward to when it’ll be as good as the ones I had in Turkey! 😋
