Vermicelli from Sichuan was so different from the ones locally. Slightly thicker and a tender texture. Garnished with black fungus, mushrooms, quail eggs and chicken pieces. The chicken broth looked quite unassuming but it was atad umami balanced off by some sodium. Soaked some green cut chilies in it and a subtle hint of heat elevated the broth to another aromatic level. It kind of reminded me of salted vegetable broth but it was lighter, softer and had a more refined taste. Very comforting. I would come back for this.

A birthday celebration that does not equate to big bash, big food, big noise, big crowd and big presents. Just an intimate one with a good friend which is priceless.
