At $38 ($44.75 after GST and Service taxes) for two, this afternoon set is one of the more value-for-money ones in town! When my mom and I tried the afternoon tea set, we had:
Savouries
- Truffle-scented egg mayonnaise sandwich: not much taste of truffles, a bit ordinary
- Smoked Duck Bruschetta: loved this because the salty smocked duck and sweet mango complemented each other perfectly.
- Prosciutto, Grapes & Arugula on Baguette - looks cute, tastes good.
- Bacon, Gruyere Cheese & Onion Jam on Toast: loved the ham and all the ingredients worked well together.
Scones:
Plain and cranberry scones with butter, cream cheese, housemade matcha jam, and strawberry jam: the scones were on the small side but very dense and delicious. I do wish that they provided cream (clotted or otherwise!) because butter just doesn’t taste as good (in my opinion anyway).
Sweets:
- Tofu cheesecake: meh
- Earl-Lavender Cream Puff: LOVED this. So flavourful, so good.
- Chocolate-Orange Praline Cake: the Orange balanced the rich chocolate
- Fruit Tart: I loved the crust of the tart!!
Tea:
I had the creme brûlée black tea and it was delicious! Reminded me of the French Cake Tea from Kunitachi Tea House (Mslena) but since I can’t go to Tokyo, this is a good alternative.
Overall, the quality of the food and tea makes this afternoon incredibly worthwhile. Would highly recommend.
