If there is one word to describe the Nasi Lemak with Sambal Fried Fish ($10.80) from Wild Coco, it has to be FRESH. The turmeric kembong fish is freshly fried upon order and it is crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside and very fragrant. The house-made sambal balado looks very spicy, but it is actually quite manageable and adds much flavour and oomph to the fish.
The sides are equally impressive. The coconut rice is fluffy and aromatic. The ikan bilis and peanuts are fried daily and are fresh and crispy. The runny yolk of the sunny side binds everything together nicely. The only downside is that the fish can get quite oily after awhile, which makes it a little jelak towards the end. Nonetheless, this is still a very good plate of Nasi Lemak.
