Chuan Kee always has one of the longest queues at Ghim Moh Food Centre. After being awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for itsย stellar braised duck, its queue now snakes around the building.
As I was starving, I went for the largest portion of ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ available ($5.50). It consisted of a generous amount of braised duck, some braised tofu, braised peanuts and half a braised egg atop a bed of rice. Everything was drenched in a rich, luscious sauce.
The tender duck did not disappoint, while the tofu, peanuts and egg were par for the course. The sauce, which coated every slice of duck, piece of tofu and peanut, was what made everything mouth-wateringly magnificent. Even the rice tasted extra delicious when eaten with the sauce.
The accompanying bowl of soup was not to be outdone. Sporting a dark shade of brown, it was simultaneously sweet and savoury, while possessing the aroma of dang gui. One of the best braised duck stalls in Singapore and I'll be back for sure!
