And the buzz was on the person behind the hot stove whipping up the noodles. So yeah.... he is at it but at a brand new location.

Just opened at Lorong Telok, near to Boat Quay. It is a shophouse, fully aircon with a cashier to take your orders, given a buzzing number disc to notify you when food is ready. See here.... nicer bowls and golden chopsticks.

So does the noodles still taste the same as at Amoy? I had a chance to speak to Gilbert, the goodlooking owner. He said the cooking, right down to the chilli sauce, is handled by him to maintain the same standard. I have had this at Amoy many times and somehow felt that there was a slight difference in terms of texture of noodles and seasoning. The soup was the same. I actually liked the soup more. But this is just my tastebuds, perhaps others might beg to differ.

The cost is slightly more, with the smallest bowl going at $6. If you are nearby, it is worth a try. It is still a bowl of comfort food. And yes, Gilbert will be there permanently.
