The robust and flavourful stock base of this recently (re?)popularise iconic Penang street food has lived up to expectations of this stall which is quickly gaining celebrity status. The ex-SQ steward and stewardess couple coped amicably with the stop stop queue of customers at the stall, greeting them with their signature smile and attentiveness. I missed the big shrimps after a 40 min queue at around 9pm, but was pleasantly surprised with their boiled pork ribs which was tender and retains the porky goodness.
I had this a few years ago and I remembered it being good. And it is still good! Best of all, it's Muslim owned, so you can dine with your Muslim friends here š
Probably the prettiest cafe I have ever been in! Here's their Gula Melaka cake ($7.60) and rose cake ($7.60). We also ordered Nymph of the Nile ($5.80), Earl Grey Lavender ($5.60) and Lychee & Grape Mint Fizz ($7.90). Love finding new places with @moimou and @ediarna!
From the beef and chicken we ordered for BBQ-ing, to the pork ribs with potato hot pot stew, the quality of the food at this restaurant is very good. Both fresh and tasty, whatever we ate impressed us a lot. Their "banchan" or small dishes comprised of a nice variety that included mini rice pancakes, pickled white radish, spicy squid with garlic and a potato salad with bits of apple. A great perk about dining here is that the staff does the BBQ-ing for customers. So you can just focus on enjoying the food.
Creamy eggs and chunks of potatoes baked with lotsa cheese. Smoked salmon went perfectly with these decadent eggs. A real brunch treat. Coq and Balls has just launched their weekend brunch menu, with this dish being one of the highlights. Tap on their place name below to see their social menu!
