Famous lobster noodles.
Located next to the Ritz and down the road from Fortnum & Mason, The Wolseley offers a comprehensive afternoon tea at a reasonable price (ÂŁ23.75 pp). The atmosphere is busy but the quality and taste of the food is good. The afternoon tea includes 5 (classic) finger sandwiches - egg and cress, smoked chicken, celery and cream cheese, cucumber and mint, and smoked salmon; 3 assorted pastries (per person) - we had a pistachio Madeline, chocolate hazelnut mousse cake, lemon tart, coffee eclair, butter cake with marzipan, and vanilla cheesecake; and of course, scones with clotted cream and jam. The selection of tea is fairly limited - green tea, Darjeeling, earl grey, the wolseley afternoon blend (similar to English breakfast but milder), Assam, English breakfast or jasmine. If the afternoon tea set sounds like too much, you can always opt for the cream tea (only scones and tea at ÂŁ10.75 pp); or you can class it up by having the champagne tea (same as the afternoon tea with a glass of Pommery Brut Royal NV at ÂŁ33.50 pp). If you plan to take your afternoon tea at the Wolseley, I recommend making a booking via their website or Toptable.co.uk
