Probably the most famous place to get murtabak in Singapore, this century-old restaurant serves up some massive murtabaks. Adding an extra kosong prata at the base and additional minced mutton on top, this murtabak needs to be shared (or not, if you're a big eater). A highly recommended place for Teo Chew porridge in the Kovan area, Ah Seah's is known for being value-for-money. Bring a bunch of friends and sit around a full table of steamed fish, braised duck and steamed egg.

Be prepared to wait at Song Kee for your super bouncy fishballs and crazy fragrant her giao (fish dumplings), because according to Dixon Chan, it's "The best fishball mee pok in SG". Greedykat Scruffs agrees, describing the noodles here as "local fare that is so satisfying :9 they're generous too, with 6 balls a bowl for $3.50!"
